My 951 which I've just finished prepping for UK club racing with the CSCC:

I've been building the car over the last couple of years and bar the roll cage and engine management system (Megasquirt 3), it's all my own work. I've made fairly extensive changes to the car for it to make a good reliable amount of power whilst being reliable. Heat management has been my main focus... The car started out as a completely stock 86' 951 four years ago when I bought it from a fellow PH'er as a 30th birthday present to myself
First race is next weekend at Snetterton!

Cracking car Rich. Out of interest how much work would it take to put it back to a road car? So interior back, cage out, ECU to a reliable road spec etc?
Reason I ask is that I was asked this the other day on a similar (externally anyway) 944.
Thanks
Cheers! If the cage has been installed properly and tied into the structure (like mine, a Nickson Motorsport bespoke install), then it’s not coming out again!! It would leave a right mess behind after grinding off all the spreader plate welds... Basically once a race car there’s no going back!Reason I ask is that I was asked this the other day on a similar (externally anyway) 944.
Thanks

Gone but not forgotten.
Noted at Pie-performance, if only they could get the colour right (Carrara white)
The grand prix white was a bit creamy, especially some of the batches Porsche had on file, mine was re-sprayed to the 2008 batch colour which was the best in my opinion, the others where very creamy.Noted at Pie-performance, if only they could get the colour right (Carrara white)
Going off topic, how is the CSL creation you were working on

Been meaning to post to this thread for a while. Picked this up back in January. 1984 2.5 8v on about 115k. £4000 on ebay. I'm guessing the colour scheme is probably hurting it's value, but who cares, it's fun.
Needs a fair bit of work to bring it up to scratch mechanically as I intend to get it to Germany and throw it round the ring at least once, but it does look good at least (from anything more than about 6' away). The wheels are particularly nice, suit it very well. So far it's had a few odds and ends attended to, including new tyres, an oil change and replacement gas struts all round to keep the lids up. Still need to track down a coolant leak, deal with a sticky throttle cable and service the brakes. (That last one should probably be a priority...)
