I'm pretty much decided on a Cayenne (958) for our next family car. No strict budget, but was thinking £30-40k. I'd originally had my heart set on a Turbo. It looks like a really good combination of luxury/pace/practicality. And we will only do c 6k miles a year in it, so poor mpg is OK.

Having kept an eye on the market for a while now, my slight concern is that (just about) all the used Cayenne Turbos for sale are the same cars that were for sale 3-4months ago. Some have been for sale much longer still. Makes me wonder, if I get a Turbo, will it be an absolute pain to sell on (without taking a total bath on depreciation).

This got me looking at Cayenne S Diesels. There are plenty about including some well spec'd ones (albeit rarely spec'd as well as the Turbos). And for my budget, I could probably just about get a MY15 facelift. Whereas I guess I'd be looking at MY11-13, pre facelift, Turbo.

Just wonder how the two compare? And any thoughts on above situation... which would you choose etc.

Any help/thoughts appreciated... cheers

Similar boat here but the other way round. I've been looking at the used Diesel S market for about 6 months or so and concluded they're not moving very quickly and asked why on here recently. Consequent if bought I think it would not be easy to sell on given the situation around diesels at present. I'd really like one but can't bring myself to buy one. I'm waiting to see if used prices are affected by the release of the new model. Should be more part exs about. The MY15 looks that little bit sharper too.

The S Diesel is a cracking car...had ours for nearly a year now. Plenty quick enough given the size of the thing, I'd really struggle to see how you "need" a Turbo. Only thing about going for a 2015 car is that it might not be Euro 6 compliant so that may be an issue going forward....I can't remember when they brought in the Euro 6 compliant cars. I am guessing the AdBlu tank is the giveaway...someone else may know the answer. The cars that aren't Euro 6 compliant apparently also sound amazing given they're diesel though I haven't ever heard one.

The 3.0 V6 Diesel has just been released for the new Cayenne...rumour is there will be no S Diesel (it's been pulled from the Panamera line up) so I reckon the S Diesel's may actually hold their value pretty well despite the diesel issues (although I think that's overblown).

We have another baby due soon, so will need to deal before the new generation Cayenne hits the roads.

I’d love to know what the Cayenne Turbos are fetching in auctions at the moment. My guess is the trade bid/offer spread is very wide on these - so perhaps there’s a fair bit of wriggle room to asking prices

Put one in WBAC and add £5k. Turbo s a niche car, sells in very low volumes.

Put a turbo into wbac and add £5k... you still get to figures a fair bit lower than just everything advertised at the moment.

This is the point I tried to make earlier - feels like there are a reasonable number of cars advertised, but none are clearing ...

I assume if a trader has taken a turbo in part ex, they will basically pay the wbac price, which leads me to think there are some fairly chunky margins in these cars at asking prices
