Completely bonkers. Being kind it's worth a third of that looking at it on face value. You'd have to be very brave with a big budget to take that on!! They're clearly a chancer that knows nothing about them...

I know values have gone up but surely you can buy a half decent one for not much more than that.

I was thinking two as a gamble.

Obviously you can recoup £4,000 for the £500 plate!

What with it being WOD as in WAD of cash!!!!!!

Madness, 928’s have gone up in value but cars like this are still not worth the time and money.

The electrics were advanced for their time and can be a nightmare when they go wrong, parts are also very dear even buying used from a specialists.

Broken Bosch relays are the culprit for most electrical gremlins, £5 a pop.

However I suspect this particular car might have some deeper issues biggrin

I don't like to put a price on other peoples stuff but this guy might be a tad optimistic.

How is it possible that someone cannot spell "know" correctly?

That is a total pile of (s)crap.

Surely that car has no value whatsoever? The parts can't be worth stripping in that state, it's £20k to get back to good nick and a decent one is £10k?

I bet you that you cannot get a decent one for £10k

It will be running, but will need spending serious money as until recently, these cars were not worth a lot and as a result more often than not were run on a shoe-string budget

or your decent is very different from my decent

and yes, I am restoring two at present - a GTS 5s-spd and a S4 5-spd and own a 928 GTS based race car

P.S. The original topic car is stupidly overpriced of course as it is not rare or special...

I haven't looked at the market recently to be honest - enlighten me on prices if you will? I certainly would only consider a car 'decent' that would be 95% mint or better mechanically / body / interior wise

Years ago I would consider a car decent if it had a running engine, the windows would go up and down and if the paint passes a perfunctory inspection from 3 yards...

Today, my requirements have changed, having owned several cars from new or total minters...

A decent 928 would have everything working - how many times have you seen an advert saying aircon requires a re-gas... New condenser - £400, new hoses - £250, labour - xx hours at £65/h min suddenly you are looking at £1500+ if it is something more than a re-gas

Window seals - £400 for the pair, and all of them - even on a late low mileage GTS look rubbish. Don't get me wrong - they still do the job, but it would drive me insane every time I look at them

Door seals - £400 for the pair - most of them need doing by now

God help you if anything inside is broken and you are no good with spanners/can't find the right part from breakers...

Suspension - £1000 for new shocks by the time you factor in new spring perches and alignment - assuming you are doing the work. For whatever reason, a 90k+ miles modern BMW still could feel ok, but a 90k 928 on its original suspension would most definitely feel saggy and all over the place...

The list goes on and on,,.
