Transporting a 944 bonnet.

I could be picking up a spare 944 bonnet soon, years ago I remember seeing a picture of a bonnet in the back of a 944. I've also read a couple of posts about people having done it, but no mention of how easy or tricky it was. So anyone here done it?

I remember reading it could be done if you dropped the rear seat backs. Alas, I have a cage in the way so lashed it to a roof rack on my daily.

I've got roof bars on my A4, just don't fancy 50 miles on the motorway with a bonnet on the roof .
