Thanks, at the moment it is very much a keeper, and I currently intend to run it up until the OPC extended warranty can't be put on it.

I've recently bought a silver 2013 4.2 with Air Susp, pan roof, 14-way seats, Bose and a few other bits. A little up on miles (114k when I bought it) but I got change from £16k, and £1k more in PX than anyone else offered on my Disco 4.

They really are a great handling SUV. Comfy, reasonably economical - significantly more so on shorter journeys than the Disco, and slightly more on a longer run - obviously it is a step up in terms of performance. The seats are great, and the overall build quality is terrific.

It's properly quick when you push it, and deceptively so when you don't. Initially, I thought the reviews about feeling the Porsche DNA were a bit exaggerated, but there's a definite sense of cohesion about the control weights etc that reminds me a lot of my Porker sports cars.

In the interests of balance; the 4wd definitely feels quite 'haldex-y' when pulling away in wet conditions (not helped by having had Triangle tyres fitted by the dealer) and allows for quite a lot of front tyre slippage before the power is shuffled to the back. I also don't think the 8pd box is the greatest. Even in Sports mode I find it quite sleepy, and the kickdown point on the accelerator is a little lower than I think is ideal, so it tends to drop a gear more than i'd prefer as a result. Perhaps the FL is a bit better in that regard? I'm learning how to drive around the characteristic but it's certainly no PDK or even ZF8.

Overall, I also think it's a keeper and can't see me changing it any time soon.

I think the tyres might be the issue there, if you really hoofed it in the wet mine tended to spin at the rear a fraction before it kicked the front in rather than the other way round

Never had an issue with the gearbox mapping either, it might not have kicked down that keenly but only because it was keeping it in the meat of the torque. Perhaps it benefit from having the adaptations reset

Coming from a 335D with the ZF 8 speed, the cayenne gearbox is the one slight disappointment, the ZF had an uncanny ability to almost anticipate what you are about to do, I tend to use the paddles more in the cayenne for overtaking than I ever did in the beemer.

I suspect you're right on the tyres. It didn't help that the fronts were running 22.5psi and 31psi, and the rears were over 10psi out as well!

With the gearbox, I've tried reseting the adaptations using the 'folk lore' method (ignition on, throttle pressed for 30 seconds etc) and, whilst it might be a placebo, I do think it's made a slight difference.

Either way, I think it's fine on a really spirited drive, but it is quick to shuffle back up to 7th or 8th the moment you ease off a little, and then gets caught out when you press on again. Perhaps a proper adaptation reset with the appropriate tool might be in order.

We are about to move ours on due to ulez nonsense and I’m a bit sad about it. 2015 so pre adblue, and the worst part is I deliberately wanted a non adblue 4 years ago when we bought it as they sound better. It’s still under Porsche warranty, has crazy spec and has only done 46k miles.
