Hi
My car failed it's mot today on a split rubber boot on the front control arm ball joint.
Obviously these are expensive parts to replace and I've already replaced the other side with a rebuilt arm from Part Works in Germany which I should add the service was brilliant and the item spot on.
My question is, should I bother trying to find a new rubber or should I bite the bullet and change the whole arm for a rebuilt item? I can only presume the boot wasn't split last MOT so I can presume at the very most it's covered 3k miles with a split boot. Although the car was used all winter so salt and spray could potentially have got in. I'm going to be paying the labour for the boot anyway and I don't think it's much more work to replace the arm.
What do we think?

If the ball joint is not worn, clean out the old grease, re-grease and replace the boot, plenty available on eBay and, I think, Amazon. You'll need the size of boot but you may find that info through Google.

ETA. I'm assuming that whoever is doing the work is willing.

Thanks. I will see if I can find the boot size I need. I have read that an early 944 ball joint boot will fit so I will start there.
