Have the drainage channels been improved on the MY20 (and onwards) cars?

This is a maintenance thing, not a warranty item. The pano roof channel has drain holes front and back on each side, as you expect, otherwise water would sit in it and mess up the mechanism in time. The duct, or tube, then takes a pretty tortuous route to the wheel arch, with that crappy valve at the bottom end. Design fault? Maybe.

If you park under tress then crud collects in the channel and gets washed down the duct. As the shopper150's video, above, shows, it is easy to flush, and this could arguably be a regular maintenance thing, maybe worth doing each time you fill the screen wash or similar.

“ This is a maintenance thing, not a warranty item”

Not as binary an issue as that I am afraid. Yes it could be maintenance and this is the line the OPC will push you down when you raise the problem with them. However, just as likely for the problem to be a faulty seal or cassette that requires detailed attention to resolve. Whatever the case, make sure you get it sorted before the warranty period expires or else it could prove a costly fix……
