Way over priced and looks restored to me. If you want a 944 have look at the mint silver rose going through CCA next week - gorgeous shame it doesn't have sports seats. In the classifieds. The colour is an acquired taste and I'm doing my best not to bid on it wink

Considering the mileage of the red one yep it must have been through a restoration to some degree. Been on sale for a 6 months or more - its priced too £5K high in my opinion.

Red one was up for £50k when it first went up for sale. It does look properly sorted TBF. At the mileage I'd agree its £25-30k tops unless it comes with a bumper to bumper warranty. If you plan to drive rather than high days her I can assure if it has a proper Porsche warranty worth its weight in gold. 944s are money pits at this age. Go in eyes wide open. A 911 3.2 Carrera of same vantage far easier to live with gremlins wise. I'd love to have both again in my garage

Yeah at the time circa Sept 88 we had one of the first batch of cars and I remember a silver rose owner being very jealous that we were allowed to special order ours in panther black with a linen interior. I remember seeing Silver Roses at Follets and thinking what f horrible interior but its period correct and this car looks like its unrepeatable as long as its not had a whack. Today that interior a selling point other than I wish they were sports seats. Red one at Glasgow lovely by the way - I'd put in a cheeky bid and see what happens smile

PS if anyone knows that Silver Rose we'd appreciate any info on it.

silver rose spec wink

calm down. you are not the oracle and do not have a monopoly on 944 turbo. At the time ours was called a turbo se. no se badge at the back. Identical spec to silver rose. sept 88 car.

To the best of my knowledge the Silver Rose spec cars were the pinnacle of 944. Porsche expected to produce around 1000 which significantly over-ran.

They are renowned for their reliability and longevity, corrosion is always the spectre on these older cars but it doesn't have to be and I think this interior is fab !

The car itself appears to have done very few miles particularly in recent years and may need some tlc if it is put into more demanding use, but this should (hopefully) not be expensive if it has the suggested service history ....

They do, but that wasn't my definition of "pinnacle".

Most people would not drive this as their classic ... though this one is mine.

Thats lovely Chris. They drive so well these cars compared to 911s of same period. Be nice to see more back on the road. If I get time I will pop up to CCA. I've not seen what I would describe as a good UK supplied Sept-Dec 88 944 turbo for ages.

I should add our 944 turbo se in 1988 was more expensive than a 3.2 Carrera Sport.

Beautifully balanced cars that take very little of you compared to a 911. I suppose thats why the 911 the one as raw and involving but those in the know wink

So wasn't going mad. There was definitely a turbo se. I'm popping up to see the Silver Rose at CCA on Thurs or Fri. Can't wait the build quality of earlier Porsches really tickles me. Thanks for the advice Chris if I buy will go through whole car and recommission in cambelts etc wink

there was a Turbo SE but it was just a label for the S in the UK. The SE and S are one and the same.

I'd go careful with that silver rose, all 944's are money pits...just some of them just don't yet know it.

Yes and thanks drivetrain will be rebuilt by Protomotive to 350bhp/350ft lbs. Todd can go to 400bhp but thats too much for me. Its rocket ship fast at 400bhp. For me barely manageable at 350bhp TBH.

won't that ruin the character of the car?

Add modern active tractive suspension would really suit character of car too. They do a kit. Cup 2 tyres on larger wheels, brembo brakes etc wink

is that because such mods run them into the ground?
