Have bought a replacement, painful because insurance will take 2 months to pay out! Reported it stolen last weekend and AXA have not registered the claim yet…..they are inundated with claims for stolen vehicles.
The trouble is we all pay for this crime wave through our premiums
Asked my local security specialists about a Ghost for new car. They no longer fit them because Ghost have made the installation manuals available on line…..now all secrets are revealed😂😂😂😂
They are suggesting Meta as an alternative
Does anyone have any experience?

eek

Why on earth would they do that?

Or did someone else get hold of them and then post them online I wonder.

Seems corporate suicide to post your IP online.

I’ve always put a Clifford Blackjax on more expensive tin. I like the idea that if someone/people were to break in and demand the keys they could have them, then drive off - but only get about 1/4mile away before having to put the code in via the 2 buttons, otherwise it’s stopping and the alarms going off.

I’m surprised it’s still around, unchanged. But that’s a good thing I suppose.

Crime has gone crazy in the UK. If Labour promise to go hard on crime then they’ll clean up.

New and old, keyless and non-keyless going. The scum have clearly identified a huge weakness somewhere in the Porsche/VAG system about 12 months ago, and are now ruthlessly exploiting it, especially within the M25.

The odd one started to go missing around spring of last year, being reported on the Macan GB forums, but the flood seems to have started in the last half of 2023 onwards.

Likewise I was close to changing my current X5 for a Macan, but I'm not sure its such a good idea, as unlike JLR, who have done something about it, Porsche are unlikely to given this is largely a UK issue.
Although I no longer live inside the M25, I still do have to drive back into the area, incl central London on occasion, so for me, I'm having second thoughts, and with it almost at the point of no longer being able to get a factory order, once that point passes anyway I'll be out of the Macan game anyway.

Now AXA don’t want to insure me in another Porsche……27 years and no claims!
Sound familiar.
Does not matter if they are keyless or if keys are in Faraday pouch they are gone and Vodafone are beyond useless they are unhelpful

So purchasing a 2 yo Macan last week and I asked for the tracker to be turned on and sales guy said”if it gets stolen must people don’t want them back” anyway there was a problem with Vodafone set up last week, and strangely on Tuesday I emailed the tech guy and no reply…one I assume insurance will be invalid without a tracker-is something weird going on?

The question is , where are they all going ??

It's not difficult to add to the security of the car with a DIY tracker and a steering lock which is what I'll be doing from now on. It won't stop it if they really want it but it may make them move onto the next one instead.

Trust me, they really want them. The one I wrote about originally I actually saw the thieves as the alarm was going off. They ran off and came back after a short while. I called the police who promptly arrived. Eventually the police left (took statements, searched local area, etc, a good job, as much as they could reasonably do). Later the same night the thieves must have come back as by the morning it was gone. They even kindly took the baby seat out and left it on the pavement!

Also, the driver door handle was taken off and was on the floor, presumably how they get in.

Left the baby seat .... A thief with a conscience!!!!

I think when you remove the handle , it exposes the emergency key hole underneath. My mate has just had his ancient £6k X5 nicked. CCTV shows someone walking up to it , pressing a beeper and hopping in. It had only just been serviced and MOT'd and the garage added 12 miles on the clock scratchchin

X5’s had an issue with OBD port theft back in the day…when the E70 was relatively new, I guess there are a few in Russia that needs parts. Only reason to steal a car of that value I’d guesss.

Be a real shame if the suffer the same fate Land Rover recently have.
[/quote]

But in fairness to Land-Rover, they have been pro-active after seeing their cars became almost un-insurable and fixed the problem on the newer (2023-on) vehicles, and offered to do the fix on older ones as well, and the stats are showing that theft rates of the 'fixed' ones have plummeted. UK manufacturer and a largely UK problem.

Really? not sure where that info comes from as the new Landrovers are virtually un insurable along with the old ones. not even Land Rover insurance will cover their own cars!!

I did hear that when Land Rover showed the new security on the new Range Rover that car was stolen the next day. Recovered as the policy followed the car and saw it had a hole cut in the back door!!

I’d assume it’s Pakistan. It’s certainly a market for the RR’s.

I had people in my house after my Mustang. Although they were in the house, it doesn’t seem they ventured upstairs?

I used to live in NW London for 20 years quite close to W9. When I lived round there there was a load of car crime but it was mostly theft of wheels, bumpers etc rather than cars themselves. Was the victim of theft three times….took to parking my M3 outside the barracks in St John’s Wood as I figured a soldier with a machine gun might put them off.

I guess a lot of the relay type theft hasn’t been an issue in a lot of London because people park on the street and it is impossible to know where the owner of a car lives so they can scan the key.

Unfortunately it seems now they’ve got more sophisticated and can just steal the car without scanning the key. That part of London is like a toy shop for a car thief and you can be on the M1 in ten minutes so very easy to get the car out of London quickly.

I gave up having a car that would attract attention…moving out of London has been great as someone that likes cars/driving on many fronts.

Apparently according to instagram they read your vin and order a key abroad without producing any documentation, obviously somewhere the vin corresponds with a key code…if that’s the case shopping trolleys for us all.

That’s amazing if true…if you order a key in this country it is a special order from the factory. That also doesn’t explain the case above of a car going missing overnight in London of someone visiting.
