Hello all, I need a bit of advice...

My 993 turbo is coming up for an insurance renewal shortly. The value of these cars is creeping upwards and it occurs to me that I should look into agreed value cover.

Can anyone suggest a broker/insurer who has a reasonable understanding of the market (in particular 993 turbo).
Also, what is the accepted way of 'agreeing' the value with the insurer? Do they inspect the vehicle, use an independent inspector, or just base it on market research?

Thanks

Thirsty

Let us know how you get on. I'm with Bridle - five trackdays a year FOC, agreed value (to be revised judging by the recent sale prices!)

My dad has recently renewed his 993 turbo insurance. Due to its relatively low mileage (31k) he felt the value it was insured for was too low, I think was down as being worth £55k. On mentioning this to his insurance broker they requested he get some valuations. He got two from Porsche specialists and is awaiting one from the Porsche Owners Club. The valuations he got put the car between £75k and £90k.

His broker said that at that value they would only cover the car if a tracker was installed. I believe he got a quote from Locktons following a recommendation on here, who did not request a tracker be fit, but it was more than the combined cost of his renewal with his current insurer plus the tracker installation cost, (the monitoring is an additional £sum per annum).

He has had a tracker installed and has remained with the same broker / insurer that he has had the car insured by for several years.

The broker he used was Central Bespoke in Kendal. (They have recently changed their name as they have been bought by Marsh). He said that the person he dealt with there was very good, 'switched on' was the phrase he used, and that they even looked on here at the classifieds for prices of 993 turbos whilst discussing the matter.

Adrian flux were good - can't remember who they put me with but I have the option of agreed value (which I must do this weekend) on my 930. I need to fill in a form and send pictures plus copies of recent work done and my est of value. If we disagree then I have to get an independent valuation done

I used Locktons (chubb) for my 3.2 with an agreed independant valuation.
Who did the valuation for you?
