best sounding exhaust! 3.2 carrera PLEASE
Discussion
Hi everyone - need some advice please - i'm currently restoring my 3.2 black targa - and really want the best sounding exhaust possible - its my second car and only used on summers days - so i want it to sound mean and sporty for the occasions - but i don't want to loose power - if anything i want to gain power - any body out there who could recommend - much appreciated -
please no talk about keeping it original - its had the original exhaust for 15 years - and plus i'm backdating the 80's bumpers to the earlier version - so i just want the car to look and sound exactly how i want - its my car - i've owned it 15 years - so i just want it to be how i want it -
any recommends please - much welcome

I would only go SSI heat exchangers with a Dansk back box. Most Porsche specialists will advise on this route. Top quality solution with a proven long term history. Not cheap though at around £2K for the parts alone.
I previously had these on my 3.0 Carrera and it sounded great, now about to fit them on my SC (Note parts are slightly different for a 3.2)

I would also recommend Turbo Thomas having just had his muffler and straight through pre-muffler fitted to my 3.2. It replaced a Miglia Milia muffler that was on the car when I bought it which just wasn't loud enough. The quality of the metal work looks good and my Porsche specialist fitted it without any problems. The sound it makes is awesome, just like an older racing 911 in tone. There are also a few occasional pops and bangs, but not too many to become annoying or sound artificial like the latest 981/991 sports exhausts. It's quite bit louder than the previous exhaust even when pottering around especially with a window open. I've only done one longish journey with it fitted and there was no drone when cruising at 80 mph. There are a few video clips on YouTube that give an idea how the system will sound, but in the metal it sounds better. Richard Thomas claims it should release at least another 8hp, which I can believe. On my 3.2 there is now less of a noticeable increase in performance around 4300 rpm which could indicate it has released more power below 4300 rpm.
