I am after some ideas about trying to make my exhaust sound a little more subtle.
I have fitted the Dansk sports headers with heat & the twin outlet stainless silencer.
It has been on the car for about 18 months now.
I went for the sports headers over the original system for the improved route to the turbo, less lag, quicker spool up etc.
The problem is it is very noisy. The O/H says it is an embarassment & I used to find this amusing but I must admit it is impacting on my enjoyment of the car.
It wasn't such a problem until recently, but I've moved house & live in a quiet cul-de-sac now,so early morning start ups are out of the question, plus I often activate other peoples car alarms when driving past.
I dont really want to ditch my existing system and am looking for sensible suggestions.Even silly ones will be considered!
I have read about retro fitted baffles, but I can't really see where these might be fitted.
Anyone have any similar experiences or thoughts?
Thanks in advance.
Terry

That's an unusual request, normally it's the other way around. Never heard a turbo too loud.

Sorry I have no idea how to quieten it down. Mine (non turbo) is reasonably loud and the wife normally knows when I am on my way home, in the early morning I just leave quickly. It is quite hard to hold a conversation in the car, but I love it biggrin

Your headers aren't the issue but are an excellent upgrade over standard, far less a length to reach turbo for quicker spool etc. This uograded design has been.around for years and replicated by numerous companies with no issues apart from quality and fitment sometimes depending who has made them, the rear silencer is the issue you have with the extra noise. Sometimes a dual outlet can be louder than standard but it all depends how it has been designed internally, not baffled enough etc.
Do you know who manufactured the silencer?

Hi
The silencer is manufactured by Dansk as far as I know. It's got Dansk stamped on it & that was on the box it came in.
Unless they buy in & rebrand their products?
I think you are right about the silencer/baffles.It would be handy if I could do something to quieten it a bit.
If all else fails I will have to look at an alternative silencer I fear.
Cheers
Terry
Picture of the silencer. Not the best shot but might give an idea.

Hi Terry. Did you eventually change your headers and exhaust or did you stay with the Dansk system?

Hi Vince

Sorry for the delay in replying.
I'm ashamed to say I decided to cash in on the current high market value & sold the car.
I now have a 996 Targa, but intend to return to air cooled ownership in the future.
Cheers.
