What I find interesting on this 3.2 is that it was obviously ordered without the sports kit, ie rear wing, front rubber lip, uprated dampers etc. Which was always an option in the UK as well.

What I can't understand though is that a later pre impact E or S had a small lip on the lower front valance to aid stability. ... This non sport 3.2 has nothing from what I can see.

I wonder if they managed to get the stability designed into the IB models without needing one. scratchchin

It's sad that it's clearly being marketed towards investors rather than enthusiasts, with a sales line like "Surely one to pack away!" and not "Surely one to go out and drive and enjoy!"

Has anyone seen this? I can only imagine it's a typo. The car is lovely but that is insane money for it and this comes from someone who has the exact same model but completely original with half the miles!

See P.18 11th March.

"Was sold 3 weeks ago for £54k by its previous owner. It's now on for £110k with the 'SCOM tax' applied!" biggrin

At high speed without the front lip spoiler you get even more lift. You still get lift with the front spoiler too but they're far more stable at 130-155 mph with front and rear spoilers. Does look amazing and unbelievable that a car of this vintage i.e. sales started 1984 can do 150mph +. Normally non sport models had cookie cutter wheels which look brill IMO. Honestly everything about this car from colour to non sport option makes her look spot on. What do you do if you buy her though? tuck her away never to be used?

Thanks for that. Was so many pages back that I missed it.

Wow! That's some sales technique...
Good luck to them, I think they may need it!!!

Who wants LHD in the UK?!
Me. Both my air cooled are LHD by choice. Have had rhd in t past, but wouldn't have rhd again as really prefer the driving position etc in the ltd air cooled cars. Air cooled were designed as LHD from the outset
Same here. Sold my RHD 964 and bought a LHD 964 as my lower back couldn't agree with the pedal offset.
And me.....for all the above reasons.

The ride height looks weird to me, makes the rear quarter look awkward & makes it look like a dinky car in the pics IMO. Looks like the cars getting a bit of lift at standstill smile

It does to me also, I'm assuming that's because she's wearing standard springs/dampers rather than sports.

It's such a shame that the 3.2 is going for silly money now. You can't beat the look of an unspoilered car and I always fancied one in guards to race around in again. Now all of them are to expensive, even the tat.

Cold bright Sunday morning, salt on the road but dry, not too worried about having to clean her straight away when you got back. Happy days and gone for ever.

A 3.2 was the workhorse of the 911 range, good value, robust and could be thrashed to within an inchof it's life and you could sell it on two years later for what you paid for it and someone else could enjoy it.

Well done speculators ........ You've ruined it.

I took my car back to Charles Marsland yesterday. He's the 3.2 Register Tech Bod with PCGB. A basic once over and oil/filter change as it was fully serviced 3k miles ago.

He owned my car for 10 years and maintained it regardless of cost so the only person who is going to continue to maintain it is him. If you need work done to the highest level for a very reasonable price then have a word. He has an immaculate set up and can do all mechanical work.

We spoke of values and it seems there are many people are getting in touch with him asking if he knew of any really good cars. This is like 3 times a week. Even dealers are on him trying to buy his car which obviously is now mine. Marlsand said he can't refer even ONE car as he doesn't know of any for sale off the radar and he's the PCGB dude!

There simply isn't any A1 Carrera's coming up. There's definitely a plethora of excellent cars out there but they're not for sale. It would seem in the current climate they will not be for sale. So if you want an "investment grade" good one then you are going to have to have extremely deep pockets as supply is all but nil and demand is outrageous.

QED

Footnote. I know of an utterly rust free original G50 coupe in nougat with 69k miles which the owner would let go for£70k. He's not fussed about letting it go as he said he'd not be able to replace it. It matters not if that's too stiff a price that's the situation. Regretfully it seems to be replicated all over the market..

Are potential buyers "speculators" or simple punters who want a good car but are trapped in a .5% interest rate zero inflation climate where money is cheap and supply of "performing" investments is narrow..?

oh my...

as soon as PH puts a 'buy this now before prices rise' story out things go bonkers! Might ask them to recommend 'lived in'2001 Range Rover P38's are the next big thing!! (dump run car!)

Lets face it chaps the whole market has gone bonkers, the 3.2c was the entry level Porsche not that long ago, where a genuine enthusiast who wasn't rolling in money could get on the ladder, it was a vanilla Porsche, with prices starting around 12k for an example which needed some work but could be driven and enjoyed. That car needing work has now doubled and some, which is still affordable but along come somebody who doesn't really know a lot about them but the car looks good on the face of it. He then realises the hidden gremlins/tin worm and the additional 10-15k to put right top end re-build and such like, this is where the problems start. There are loads around in this bracket that are just not worth the money, private sellers trying to make a quick buck at the expense of a "green punter". High mile Targas over £20k!!

Just glad I have been there and done it and not lost my shirt over the years.

I recently sold my G50 , 1988 3.2 Carrera to a dealer - it was Guards Red , Sports Kit , black / red piped sports seats , etc - immaculate inside and out , lots of service stamps , etc. The only thing that some people may misinterpret as an issue is the mileage : 109,000 - but it felt like new - really , really amazing car - I know some people will say a top end rebuild is coming - but it definitaly did not feel like it to me . PM if you want details of the dealer and I'll put you in touch as he's yet to market it - I assume he still has it , as it was only 2 weeks ago ? I can vouch for the car : it is so lovely I miss it already - it was a "forced" sale as I have another air cooled coming and space is an issue - if I had more space I would have definitely kept her frown

Why oh why sell it to a dealer? On here or 911UK and hinting at selling, and it would at least have had a chance of selling to a fellow enthusiast. Here comes another dealer big marked up aircooled.

Lovely looking car ..... As I'm sure you already know, 109K miles means nothing. Shame you ran out of space.

Fair criticism to make - I did try hinting , but obviously not enough and also if the truth be told the advantage of selling to a third party means not having random time wasters turning up at your door ( not saying most PH'ers are like that BtW) - but in truth now you've said this I feel terrible - sorry ! I also "owed" the dealer as he had been very helpful in other areas in the past - but I do get your point !

Must admit the hassle I've had selling privately with tyre kickers dreamers.
People not turning up when you've took time off work etc. Its not always worth the extra few quid to be honest.
When I had the GT3 I agreed to drive the car to a dealer/specialist of their choice (not just around the corner either) took a day off to do so, car got a glowing report no rev range issues etc. Guy put a deposit on the car and then decided he couldn't afford, WTF!!
Sold the GT2 to 911V and lost a grand..........they collected the car and dealt with all paperwork etc.

Yes this was kind of my point - but with all the hype round current pricing , I saw the point of the earlier post smile
