964/993 Cab Roof Tension Ropes

Hi all
Anyone with any experience of replacing these? I have one that's broken and, whilst I can get access to the two end fittings, I cannot figure out how to get to the plate/bracket that the cable slides through and is located under the roof fabric. Any ideas (nothing found in the WM)?
