Sweet pea, don't get all worked up, go and have a lie down, you'll blow a gasket. The point I made about manufacturers appealing their shareholders with new 'improved' product roll out is neatly highlighted by your reason for going back to a apple 4s, it adds very little to your life. Not quite sure what the rest of your rambling is all about, Kool Aid, me not liking all driver aids etc, but I think for the rest of the day you should stay away from the coffee machine...and red bull, and when you get home you should ask your mum to run you a lavender bath
Can't wait until we have fully functioning self drive cars and an established infrastructure to support it. Hop in car, enter destination and settle down with a cuppa and a paper! Less congestion, less stress and much less accidents no doubt!
Now back to the action.
Handbags at the ready....
GO!

cmoose you're not wrong about the tech being 5-10 years off, but no one I've spoken to about it recently (tier 1 suppliers, OEMs, tech firms) thinks it'll actually be that soon. Most customers aren't ready for it, regulators and governments certainly aren't ready for it, and the insurance industry isn't either. It'll be a gradual thing, like HOV lanes for but for semi-autonomous intercity driving.
I'm not surprised at all about the rise in air cooled prices and the fact owners are holding on to them - even at £30k a 993 is an absolute bargain considering both the 911's iconic status and the performance.....you can spend 30k these days on a classic Ford
which by comparison is far inferior in both build quality and performance.

Classic Ford isn't really an argument as most classics are over inflated at present. Agree a nice 993 at £30k is reasonably, but people are asking for more than that.which by comparison is far inferior in both build quality and performance.

Or it could of course be that aircooled 911 owners really like their cars so are hanging on to them coupled with more people wanting to buy one!
Supply and demand....last time I checked they weren't making any more....
I've owned mine for 11 years. Can't see me selling it. Can't think of anything I could replace it with in my budget.Supply and demand....last time I checked they weren't making any more....

People are seeing classic car prices rise faster than anything else, with interest rates low here, an aging population reliving their youth, increased globalization and global wealth its no wonder to me that the market for older cars is so strong, and will keep strong for some time yet. I can't talk for the real rare stuff, early 1970's etc as that seems to have bonkers but is a reflection on how much money is out there. Every now and again I look at cars which I used to own in my youth, (mini's escorts and the such) and am amazed how much they go for and go they do....
Yes, classic car prices have risen (people have missed the boat). We all look at cars we used to own/used to be peanuts and the asking prices are through the roof and now don't look such good value. Interest rates will rise and other investments will look more inviting and money will move out of cars (which have ongoing maintenance costs) and then the mainstream stuff will drop back.Good cars bought at the right time will always be worth their money, but buying at current highs is risky (IMO).

Yes though that budget is growing. And the boat has sailed for many people now, I hear people say " I need to get into this
classic as the prices are rising ", and I say " they have been rising for 5 years ", a lot of
slow people about, time and tide waits for no man.....

A few cars are on my future wish list that may be potentially possible 997t, R8 and F type. But that would be way way in the future. I'm not sure I could bring much self to sell it though. I love it, not sure what I'd get extra with something else,
