Hi All,

Some of you may know I have a 1991 LHD C2 black 964. I've actually had it on a sorn for many years and I want to get it back on the road.

What I was hoping that the I could get one of the garages involved perhaps to help restore it and have it as a show car for them if they offer a discount on getting it done.

I'm thinking of a complete respray, wheels are already immaculate as I had them refurbed, the clutch was done also. I would assume the engine needs a full service as I think it did have oil leaks.

It's already got a Hayward and Scott exhaust.

I want to upgrade suspension also and get the interior brought back to life. So chaps what do you think?

Cheers

Sunil

Not sure about discount but Porsche Sutton Coldfield restored a 964 C2 and won national Porsche GB competition. Truly stunning work and attention to detail.

Nice idea but I don't think you'll get a discount.

Porsche specialists who're established and going to do a good job tend to be booked up and don't really need to show their work off as they have an established customer base. The OPC's who have restored classic models like to try and sell them on and make a fair amount back (once they've used the car as an example).

Not sure if you're looking to restore your LHD 964 C2 to sell or as a keeper, but it won't be cheap to do it properly.

Do you have any pics?

Hi, I'll take some snaps tomorrow as I'm going to fire the car up and also jet wash it.

I think I'll be keeping the 964 as it's rather cool and become rare.

Hi Chaps,

What do you think the cost of a full respray would be?

full glass out repaint with all the rubbers and bits and bobs, that you will need will likely be £12-15k depending on who you get to do it, if you want a proper job, or if you just want bits tidying up it will be much cheaper, but 964's do know how to rot!

I was thinking more 5k for a complete respray. However I assume I'll need new rubber around the car.

Doesn't Porsche give a lifetime warranty against rust? Or is that a dream?

Cheers

Just take care on keeping the costs in check. Those bills could get very large.

Have you got specific quotes for specific jobs?

Hi All,

So car is running and passed it's MOT, it's had a big service and I ended up spending full price for the rear lights.

The front LHD and RHD fans have gone so they are being replaced. It's F**king expensive with 8 hours of labour, however I need to have a car which has working hot air at least.

Keep you guys posted.

Cheers

Sunil

Hey Sunil, for the bodywork I would be speaking to Impact who are based in East Sussex, if not too late.

The owner, Sam, is a an absolute perfectionist and one of the few people I would trust if you want a thorough and immaculate job, at least in the South East.

He carried out a full bare metal respray on my 993, and the job was amongst the best I've ever seen. I asked a couple of anal retentive friends to go check out the end result and they were super impressed.

I am not affiliated with Impact in any way. In all honesty, I didn't have a great experience with Precision (the mechanical outfit based next door to Impact), but a lot of others seem happy with them too.

Happy to chat through if helpful, drop me a pm with your contact details.
