What was the condition of the flatnose items you took off?

I would love to build a flatnose 930.

some progress at last. Signs of corrosion in the front inner arches so two new inner and out wings. That is all for now!

Always interested in these sorts of projects, watching one man's vision come to fruition smile

Have you got a final idea in your head of where you want to be with it?

The car will be totally original with brand new and or refurbished parts throughout. I'm in now so no turning back!

Good job Dicky. Make sure your car is properly jigged before painting. You need to make sure all the mounting points, suspension, steering etc. 26 number from memory all line up as they should

That is a stand. Not a proper jig. Ignore my advice and you will be disappointed. You do not want to be doing everything twice

Going to be awesome when its done.

Did you get an estimate of cost or is it a "by the hour" rebuild?

I understand when they were assembled at the factory there wasn't any rustproofing applied to the inner rear quarters prior to the outer wings going on. Any rust preventative applied afterwards wouldn't have reached the upper parts of the inner wings.
Mine looked perfectly OK on the outside, once the rear wings were off and the shell media blasted the inner quarters were found to resemble teabags, totally perforated with little or no integrity. Both sides, along with the rear panel between the rear lights. The outer panel was fine, the inner totally shot. The shell would have been useless in a side impact.
I now look at shiny, tidy cars and wonder what is lurking beneath.
