Love this very high quality 964....looks almost totally standard. I did think for a while last year of buying a high mileage 964 RS that needed some TLC and doing something similar. RSR engine, updates suspension etc,

I kind of think 964 RS is Porsche’s own hot rod....apart from the lowered suspension looks very much like a standard 911 to the uninitiated.

My kind of build also. Understated but with the underpinnings for a real driving tool.

Lovely

How long is it going to take before drivers work out that analog cars are far more fun tan digital cars.

People who buy cars for fun already know that.

My reference was to motoring journalists who think that it’s some kind of revelation

Nice car and a slick video production but lets remember there are many UK companies that have been doing this and better for many years.

Who do you classify in that bracket ? Genuinely interested as it’s something I am interested in doing.

Mechanically there are many tbh. Three here in the NWest in 9M, Unit 11 and Tech9 and many with great reputations further south. As a do it all package 9M and RPM are both very experienced and produce some superb cars. http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=143515

Not heard of Unit 11...I use RPM for some servicing. I knew they did the CSR’s but hadn’t realised they did bespoke builds too.

Unit 11 went bankrupt a few years ago, its just a mechanic (( johnny) who used to work there now who started trading under the same name immediately after they folded. just a one-man show now.

NineMeister have many horror stories and excessive invoicing tales do a google search. 7k "9M Cams" who turned out to be 1k rebranded shrick cams anyone? and a 7K respray which became 23k without notice...think they settled on 16k... and..

Phil Hindley at Tech9 I have only heard good stories about.

If you want to do a bespoke car, I would get in touch with Differsgroup in the netherlands, they did a 912-6 for me and is currently doing a 2.8 RSR backdate based on a 930 turbo.

very transparent and great blokes to boot, and what a showroom..

Describing John as just a mechanic is a bit like describing Seb Vettel as just a taxi driver;) Huge knowledge and great value for money. Lets face it, value for money is not a term often used when talking about work on Porsche.

John is alright. I sent a 3.2 Carrera there for restoration about 5 years ago but had to move it as Unit 11 went bust.
Long story but it went a bit tits up, not all Johnnys fault though. Unit 11 were good in there hay day, Johnny and Danny worked well together but towards the end they just hated each other and couldn’t bear to even look at each other and that affected the work...
later learned that he had started for himself and trading under the Unit 11 name. Havent tried him since.

v interesting...i wanted to drop a 2.7 into a 912 i have that matching and perfect. seems a shame to break the 912 matching up but finding another car in that condition to do a job on isn't easy.

will have a chat to those recommended. ty

Not true Axel. The guys still talk and see each other on a regular basis. Both were left in the lurch when the old business closed its doors.

well, I dont think you know the whole story.
my friends have been in contact with Danny many times.
He’s working at 9m now, he could have continued that business with Johnny but doesnt anymore make of that what you will.
Johnny takes his takes cars there to get 4 wheel aligned, so yes they do see eachother.

I could write alot more but it doesnt belong in this thread and Im not one to hold a grudge. Johnny is a good mechanic ,
has had some mental issues but better now i believe - lets leave it at that.

back onto the thread - Singer anyone?
