Hi All,

I am thinking of getting my 993 C4 back on the road. I believe it has the following issues, so looking for advice on what it might cost.

1. I am sure it needs a new clutch.
2. I think it needs a steering rack service as it was leaking.
3. Will need a full service as it's not been on the road for 8 years, been garaged.
4. Drivers side window raiser was not working. - May have a go at fixing this myself.
5. The battery was draining, I guess it will need to be traced to what the issue is.

Cheers

Sunil

Email your list to JAZ Porsche - they'll respond with a (I imagine competitive) quote.

Prices from a good Porsche Independent should be as follows:

Clutch - £800 to £1000
Steering Rack Rebuild - £300 to £400
Major Service - £500 to £600
Window and Battery Drain are probably/hopefully inexpensive fixes by a local auto electrician

I'd budget another £3k'ish as you'll definitely need tyres, brakes will require an overhaul & fluid change, dizzy cap, rotors and leads etc. etc.

HTH.

Window will be one of the switches, gently prize out with a flat ended screwdriver (it’s just a ouch fit) , pull off plug and attach new. If the passenger window doesn’t work it may be one of the drivers side switches that actually isn’t working as they are all connected to each other.

5 minute job per switch. They are around £35 each from OPC with a bit of discount.

Stood for eight years? I’d change the clutch master cylinder as well as the clutch. Personally I think a clutch job would be more £1300-£1500 inc the cylinder, though the clutch pipe may also be corroded and need replacing as well. Depending on mileage the dmf may also need a good look at whilst the clutch is out.

993s are renowned for flat batteries. 4-6 weeks from full charge to flat is not uncommon if not used. If it’s draining quick that 3-4 weeks, One well know fault that drains batteries is the interior light draining power, even if the light is off it still pulls it through.

Best of luck with it, summers coming up smile

Hi Sunil. Did you ever get your 964 C2 back or did the insurance pay out?

Intrigued to know what’s the story as to why you’ve not used it for so long?

Hi,

Did get the 964 back on the road but it was stolen. Got paid out eventually but not for the true value of the car, so now having to argue the case.

Cheers
