Independent dealer recommendation
Discussion
Looking for a new Independent dealer to use for servicing preferably in North Essex, one which has decent knowledge of air cooled stuff, and preferably with mechanics experienced in them, rather than simply trading on the name of the company.
Any thoughts, comments etc appreciated.

Many thanks for the reply. I did use Autostrasse for years, but it's not the same business since Harvey, Ken & Alan left.
Unfortunately Ipswich is far too far from me.
Anyone used either ADH near Braintree or Pie performance near Lavenham?
I've spoken to both those on a professional basis (I work for a company that sells Porsche parts worldwide) and both companies are really passionate. Sadly I don't have any personal experience of using them as i'm Sussex based. Unfortunately Ipswich is far too far from me.

Thanks for the feedback, appreciated. All helps in building a picture of a garage I'd like to use long term - sadly finding a decent garage who is passionate about old Porsches rather than simply sees them as a cash cow is not easy! I think it's one of the down sides of the market going crazy, forgetting that some of us got them in a time when they were simply an old Porsche!I used Autostraase a number of times for general serviciing + MOTS (from 2014 to 2018) when I owned a 996 C2. MOTS where actually by another garage on the same estate if I recall correctly.
Never had any problem with Terry or Dom. They would always have a mix of air-cooled, transaxle and modern in the workshop, though never saw much of the laterst stuff (guess 991 and 981 were all at the OPCs).
Dom and Terry have since parted company and Dom now runs ADH. Terry still ownes Autostrasse. Not used 'em recently (my 718 is too new). I pop by each from time to time for a chat. They both still seem to see a fair number of air-cooled cars through their doors.
I'd suggest you call in on both if you're local - they are only about 20 minutes apart.

PIE Performance in Sudbury? I have spoken a few times to them but not dealt with them directly. They seemed like they knew their stuff though.
I actually went to an open days of theirs years ago I think through PCGB's Essex group, they were on a farm if I recall correctly. Certainly seemed decent enough, the problem as with all of these is getting there and back as few have courtesy cars, which is why Autostrasse did use to be so handy.churchie2856 said:

Thanks for that, I did wonder where ADH had seemingly come from as I'd never heard of them before. Did Dom own AS with Terry then?Never had any problem with Terry or Dom.
