IMIA, between Autobody Technic and Riviera whose better?
Just based on those single cars themselves nothing else 993 nudges it (how can't it look at the car ) and happy with 997. AB have done lots of other small bits and pieces for me like bumpers etc very good. I'd let them both quote and go with best deal. Timescale important too. These guys a cottage industry so both will have lead times for bigger projects which take them more time. There's load of amazing paint shops out there it really just depends on your budget. I was pleasantly surprised at ABs quote. Hope this helps. Is the bodywork that bad? I only ask because this crazy classic car price appreciation in the last 10 years had provoked many owners to go down the £20k resto route and you end up with a new/old car. Is that what you want? Zero patina?
You mention Canford Classics. Check out the youtube video Alan did with Petrolicious on the pre IB 911 he pulled out of a garage in Japan. No resto - all patina and probably one of the only 911s I'd sell my SC for.
All of the outfits mentioned above will do a great job but in my humble experience, classic car ownership should be about preservation, not restoration.

About 8 years ago I had my 993 turbo restored to as new - had a guy spend 3 days detailing it to an incredible finish and then I put it under its fitted cover in the garage.
About a month later I realised this wasn’t for me. I promptly got it back on track and ragged the arse off it. Now it has some memorable stone chips but is used as intended.
Cover has never been near the car since!

Great post.
How many owners spend more time washing or polishing their cars than they do driving and enjoying them I wonder. How many potentially fantastic road trips or track days are ruined through the stress of a stone chip or - god forbid - the possibility of rain.
I’m certainly not one of them........ Orangecurry however How many owners spend more time washing or polishing their cars than they do driving and enjoying them I wonder.
