+VAT and a donor car, so it's a half million pound 993.

Or you could just buy an original 993 RS, with enough left over to buy another 993 RS.
This is where ( unless you are caked) it doesn’t make any sense.

Singer seems the only brand where if you want out you don’t get ironed out .

Not a resto Mod as such but at a certain price interesting nonetheless.

That said there is virtually no history with the car and as stated in the advert it’s a non original engine.

Looks like it’s been partly restored but clearly there is still more to be done & one questions why the cracked bumpers were not attended to when the body was painted .

Can’t quite make my mind up with regards to what’s fair value given you’d want to get the car to a good standard.

Looks like it needs a bit of finishing off, mostly old trim parts...

If it goes for £30k and even if you had to spend £5k on it, could be a nice little car for that! Certainly has a period feel!
That’s my thinking I’ve put in a higher bid so see what happens.

As you say dumping 5k into it would tidy it nicely and my thinking is that it’s really no money ?

Obviously unoriginal but that’s reflected in the price

I somehow doubt that will go for 30k, i think in Germany you can probably sell that as is for high double digits as after a little investment for low 3 digits. What am I missing?
You might be right however it’s not the original engine, no history & it still needs a fair amount of work .

Not long to go also but I think you might be right

Agree, but one with original engine and finished is probably more like 150-200k unfortunately

for 40k you could buy this …. It does come with an engine, just not in the car

My German not too good but I’m assuming its the shell as is and no engine.

Curious on this CC’s one .
Would have thought it’d be fair bit higher by now

You get the engine as well, so not just the shell.
I assume if it stays below say 55-60k somebody will buy it and possibly export it - will be interesting to watch, I always wanted a 60s or 70s car, esp a 911 (incidentally I love brown cars…)
Good luck
Great Tks

Maybe 30k might not end up being too far off

Tempted to agree - at 65k euros private sale, it seems like an ok result to me. Very tough to tell though given no clue how good the car is / how much really needs to be spent on it to make it worth say 100k euros.
Would make for a great summer daily as is, unfortunately I have no spare cash
I think if you look closely there is still a fair bit needs doing mainly body work . Interior and engine looked all good but you can still easily put 10k into it .

Just reading 911 & PW about early 996’s . Might make more sense to buy one of those and personalise it

I quite like the 996 looks, but clearly not as pretty as a longhood car. I love mine, very pure driving experience

That’s a lovely car .

Anymore pics ?

Took mine out this morning, sunny and dry, peak district roads - these cars were made for days like this - Cue Matt Monroe biggrin

BUT a small window to enjoy them.

Perfect combo right there .

The 996 Angle could be interesting.
Jethro has a great little early 996 that he’s modded with all the right bits .
Freely admits it’s no GT3 but then costs a fraction of the price and he’s not precious with it .

From memory it’s got decent suspension, cargrafic exhaust , buckets and oz racing wheels with things like top mounts done but a pretty standard engine .

Obviously he can pedal too so he knows when it’s set up right .,
Donor car and add ons back then he’s probably only in for about 25k

He'll be quite a way past £25k i imagine. It's running a 991 motor that Litchfield installed. From what I've read it wasn't quite as easy as they thought it would be, and I doubt they're cheap on the labour rate.
I might be thinking of the wrong car or at least have the wrong details but this was the video

That video was 5 long years ago. I think the engine shat itself and Jethro planned to install a rare factory X51 engine in place of the original.
He seemed unable or unwilling to commit to the project, I suspect because he was doing a lot of journalistic stuff in the good old US of A.
Then he got a call from Lichfield suggesting the 991 engine swap would be cheaper.
If they’d asked me, I could have told them the process would be complete ‘mare ...
They’ve had to run the new motor using a standalone ECU, whilst retaining the original ECU to look after the dash, security and all the other 996 chassis functionality.

The benefits of using a much more modern power plant means the new motor does have lots of tuning potential too ...
Ahhh got it Henry you’re more up to date than I .

Hope you’re well Sir

silly money, but thought to share for anyone that might be interested.
Very pretty car but has to be bought with the heart and not with the head .

When you stop and think what else you could buy for lots less and not panic over price makes you stop and think .

I’ve ended up buying a really lovely little 996 C2 that’s been totally lavished on for less than 20k and have to say it dives super brilliantly .

I get it’s not air cooled & it’s not a personal dream build but the most I can lose is less than what you might lose on that car although I do get that’s not really the point in this thread

I agree that duck egg or light Gulf blue really suits these cars. The light blue SWB tested by Harry's Garage recently and the 964 RS in a similar shade at Thomas Schmitz both look fantastic. Actually, this would probably be my perfect aircooled pairing.

Love that gulf blue RS .

If money was no object I’d have one just to stare at !
