Pretty much exactly the conclusion I came to during what would have been my ultimate (Neil Bainbridge’s words) 2.8 RSR build. I got out after the restoration, prep and “2.8 RSR isisation” of the shell, and having procured a few parts.
I got out without any financial loss or gain.
Sometimes I wish I’d seen the project through, but having done a complete concours restoration on a 964 RS, I know how you must have felt at the end of your build Graham.

That’s one of the worst “restomod’s” I’ve ever seen….be amazed if that gets anywhere near £100k

I’d really like a Targa in my life, but that one is a bit much.
I guess with a normal exhaust and a different front bumper it would be better, but still an acquired taste. I don’t mind the colors even if not my first choice.
I suspect it will top out a long long way below the cost.

Don’t like the older targa look .

That said my first 911 at the tender age of 23 was a 930 turbo targa .

When did one of those last come up for sale .

That looks like quite a lot of car for relatively little money. What am I missing?

(would prefer wider arches and different seats, mind)

I like the narrow body look (the car is near perfect on the outside), as you said the seats, a bit too big and modern.

I have those seats in my Golf Clubsport, and while they're great seats they look out of place in a 911. I'd like to see it sit a little lower too...

Just watched the video and the chap gives a good talk, but is their work 'up there'?

I love all the details, specially also the leather with stiches around the tubes, some still use ugly central heating isolating stuf.
You mean the FIA foam that's mandated for any kind of competition car, that's designed to stop your skull splitting open if you hit your head against a steel tube in a crash?
Yes, that stuf, see some use stuff like this and keep it that way...

when the car on the outside is not to bad, see>>

I don’t think you’re missing anything per se but you’re right that at first glance it looks like decent value. You’d have to assume corners have been cut or at a minimum the bodywork was solid before they started on it, Doesn’t sound like much has been done to the engine in terms of performance so that is one area where £££ has been saved.

Seats are not for me like others have said but that’s personally taste.

The interior is aweful, why have a early car and put that interior in, personal taste i respect but!
Period looking but comfortable seats in that ,i would be lolipops, most comfy seat i have sat in and hold you well.
Targas can be a even bigger money pit, especially if the chassis has drooped with rust issues Etc, they also leak at high speed, look good though , but dont drive as well as the tin top.
