At some point in 2023 I'll need some new front discs - last time, in 2011 I bought Sebros and they've been excellent.

But the Brembos are ridiculously cheap at the moment.... any experience please?

Thanks!

I thought Brembo were well respected. Although recently they've been seen as budget. It can't be hard to make good quality metal discs, can it?

The crazy 993ers back-in-the-day went to some trouble to find out, and I think it can depend on the quality of the steel and the expertise of the foundry....

I think I'll stick to Sebro unless somebody comes along with any recent Brembo experience, as I have heard the same as you, that Brembo has today become the budget end of the suppliers, but relying on a reputation gained a long time ago.

Having said that, I did put Brembos on the front of the Subaru in 2014, at 68k miles, and they are still doing their job today at 133k miles scratchchin

(yes... every 993er has a spreadsheet, and on every car they own.... don't they? Or am I not normal?)

They say the right discs need the right brake pads.

In Germany they did a test of many brake discs and pads combining to see which fits best together.

sadly old from 2008 but you get the idea, no idea if there is a newer version somewhere, but here that from 2008

green = good combination
yellow = clearly not the best combo but...
red = not advisable

My mate who has a garage business told me that brembo's are rubbish now compared to days of old. I was enquiring after seeing some advertised really cheap. I bought some discs from ECP for the 993 for £18 each the last time and they have been fine!

But is that, even for him, all word of mouth/internet wisdom, as per ATM and myself, or is it actually seeing that they don't last or too abrasive/whatever?

Do you mean Brembos? So they haven't been rubbish?

That is really interesting ...

I like Pagid RS14's in my 944 Turbo Cup (I have a set of new pads store) but need a new pair of front discs and the Porsche Motorsport items are not available. At least now in the absence of a Porsche solution I know where to look smile
