Long time reader of pistonheads, but now need to ask advice.

Does spec look ok ?. Appreciating it has been for sale for a while, is silver putting people off .?
Looking to keep a car for 1 year only, so unfortunately need to take into account resale

Basic spec and not the best colour IMHO. Condition and service history is paramount.
If you personally like the colour and buy it right and subsequently sell it right resale won't be too much of an issue.
A 2 yr warranty will be handy if it comes with one so you can sell it on in a year

Personally think you would be safer with red and definitely a car with a 2 year warranty which you can sell on with a full year remaining. Residuals are fairly strong at this end of the market for F430 so you are not going to lose a fortune so for a couple of thousand pounds either way, if its your dream car you may as well have what you really want. I budget to lose £10k a year depreciation plus running costs but you then also have buying and selling margin to factor in.
Bag a year end bargain at trade price and sell in a year privately and you could potentially restrict your loss to as little as £5k

Year newer, resale red, better brakes, higher spec, however double the miles at near 30k. That opens a whole other debate about how much impact that has on price and resale ? My understanding is these cars are very mileage sensitive, price wise, if not mechanically. Is there a common view on "acceptable" mileage for say a 7 year old car ?

A lot higher spec car with ceramics, challenge wheels and carbon rear grill etc but twice the mileage. Its about 4,700 miles per annum which isn't horrendous but you certainly wouldn't want to take it to 40k.Year newer, resale red, better brakes, higher spec, however double the miles at near 30k. If the cars spec is to your liking, the condition is good and service history is bang on with a 2 year warranty I'd rather all that than worrying about 4,700 miles per annum. I averaged 2,000 in mine and I hardly went anywhere. It only takes one euro trip and the mileage does go up but that's what they were made for and the older they get the less mileage sensitive they become. In fact a 7 year old car with low mileage and patchy history would probably worry me more
You will probably get a good deal on one at this time of year ( year end accounts/stock reduction ) run it for 12 months and sell next spring when prices generally go up.

Excuse my ignorance, but all I can take for guidance is threads on forums such as this, where too many people seem paranoid of milage. Remember I'm not questioning the car being able to cope with it, which is ridiculous, but more resale in a years time and how easy it will be to sell the car back on.

If you want to do 8k miles, fair play, but a lower mileage example will be better in that case as it will be increasing and not decreasing the 7 year average mileage and taking in too close to the 40K IMHOExcuse my ignorance, but all I can take for guidance is threads on forums such as this, where too many people seem paranoid of milage. The silver cars price reflects its spec and colour and isn't going to depreciate hugely so if you like it go see it, drive it and negotiate hard.
I found condition between cars can vary dramatically so its always best to see a few local cars that you might not ultimately want to buy but by looking at them you can get a benchmark of what to expect.
A 07 car with a 2 yr warranty would certainly aid resale with a year remaining but if 20k mileage cars are out of the budget I wouldn't worry as there will always be someone wanting to get in at the entry level F430 prices. Buying a used car is all about compromises but any car priced correctly will sell.
Must admit had a quick scan through the 36 coupes and nothing really sticks out as the car to buy
