Let's have some facts then........just sold my 12 coupe after 11 months and 4k miles, bought from a main dealer at retail and sold back to same dealer as trade, loss of £12.5k.
Hard facts as opposed to tinterweb bo**ox and soothsayers I know a man........ Sold back to a different dealer as the one who had originally sold it was offering even less. Privately didn't have any takers despite being an excellent spec.

So what do we reckon the dealer bid is on spiders retailing for say 195k?
13 spider with good spec £170k.A lot depends on the dealer, if he's got 4/5 spiders in stock it's unlikely they'll bid strong money, if they have no stock, obviously the bid will be higher, it's all down to timing.
One of the problems with all this is a time of year thing. It's well known that around now in April and May it's the best time to sell a car (and the worst to buy!) because everyone's in the same boat buying as the weather gets better to have a new toy for the summer.
I'm guessing as a result a dealer will pay significantly higher because they know they have a buyer ready and waiting the next day/week, rather than having to stock it for 6 months.

I don't wish to quibble but that is not real time pricing since you do not hint at cost or sale price
IMHO I think it is quibbling. It would not be fair to the buyer to disclose prices, I was simply letting people know MY realtime costs to owning this vehicle by posting my buying / selling findings this week, as opposed to the '£50K+ losses in 10 minutes' previously reported.. Regarding time of year of course now is the best time to sell, unless you want to sell a McLaren that is I was offered a 2012 (coupe) car that would have equated to over well over triple the monthly cost of my 458 (I know the purchase price of it)

£1200 a month from a new car isn't bad at all in fact I'd say good. I always work on the basis of £1000 a month depreciation whether it be Porsche Ferrari or whatever and thats on a second hand car.
+1 I've been losing at least 1k a month for the last (I can't even think) how many years! on vehicle depreciation

If that were really the case, I would buy one tomorrow.
Go and do it - you know you want to!My personal experience of Ferrari ownership (now on 3rd) has cost approx £1000/month (not including fuel or insurance) - plus benefit for no service costs for 7 years on any 458 registered after May 2011. And 4 years warranty............not sure what McLaren service actually costs!
