Any feedback from owners of either or both welcome. Looking for long term keeper, will be used sparingly as I live and work overseas. Don't want a bath if i need to sell in 5 years.
I bought a new 997 GT3 in Dec 2010 but lost my shirt 10 months later and my local supplying Dealer Reading wouldn't even bid me for high spec car with 800 miles on clock. Left bad taste in mouth after all the hype over rarity and resale. Sold it as couldn't get on with road noise and ride.
Swapped above for a 2008 599 GTB, loved it and had for 2 years. Lost 2/3 what I did on 911 and owned 2 & 1/2 times as long. Didn't cost penny outside of oil services. Sold as not using and felt longer term prices will fall. Epic car and very special fell

Want to put something special in my store for long term. I hear new 911 GT3 more refined and quieter than 997. Must admit like sound of PDK. Resale worries me. 430 Scuderia seems to have rave reviews and solid investment potential.

I have a Maserati GranTurismo S for comfort trips so OK with something raw.

So any experiences from owners welcome. Im back in UK in 4 weeks and have cash burning a hole!

You're less likely to burst into flames in a Scud!

We'll of course the GT3 is sold out and the only ones available will be those returned by owners having a hissy fit about the engine replacement. There may be cancelled orders for new cars but there's a queue at every dealer waiting to buy. I have tried and can't get one.

It's ironic that Porsche's most engaging 911 is only built in limited numbers which results in better residuals because of its rarity. Do not under any circumstances buy a turbo, they depreciate like crazy. Been there, done that.

If you can find a good 430 Scuderia, that would be my first choice.

They are both great cars. I have a 991 GT3 and a 16M. The GT3 would eat the Ferrari for breakfast, lunch and dinner point to point on UK roads. The engine and gearbox are just fantastic, or they will be once Porsche have resolved this monumental screw up. The Ferrari feels more special, more focused and makes a better noise, though it is very subjective!
