Looking at purchasing my first ferrari 360 F1

every thing looks in order, pads, major service, belts, and clutch all replaced and done within the last 12 months

Everyones thoughts and advice would be greatly accepted.

The average asking price for a car of that mileage is currently £43,677 (more info here). Factor in the colour combo and the seats and it looks well priced. However, rightly or wrongly, 47,000 miles is a lot in this world and it wont take much to take it to 60k. When you come to sell you'll have even less buyers than would be looking at it now.

The cars do take the mileages though, there are a few cars with over 100k on the clock with little more than routine servicing needed.

When I get home from work I'll have access to my full data set so can tell you how long the car has been on the market.

It does look a lovely car and well priced.....Carbon racing seats are very sought after.

To watch for..... Up to date with recalls, previous accident damage and if it were me I'd want to be sure the 430 wheels didn't upset the ABS as this can be an issue on the early cars.

The car appeared in my data for the first time in March this year. Price has not changed from where it is currently advertised.

As others have said looks like a nice car, carbon seats, Tubi, Rosso, and the more practical tan interior all plus points.
430 wheels seem to split opinion.
The down side is those miles, ferraris seem to go down significantly with every 10k and by the time you have shown your mates and family and had a decent run out it will be a 50k+ miler.
If you intend to keep for ever or long term then the above does not matter so much, if you recon to keep for a couple of years then do yourself a favour and get a px bid on the car now against something so you know where you stand.
Voicey knows the market as good as any of us but me being rubbish at maths and graphs can't see how that car is keenly priced at £43k I can work out averages but one car either end of the scale will throw that out of balance no ?

Anyway, if you decide it's for you check ball joints at £250 a corner plus fitting, clutch wear, and F1 pump if you can, and get an independent inspection despite it coming from one of the reputable independents.

They are a great car and easy to drive as well with light controls and make all the right noises.

Would also suggest you look at a few of them to get a feel for what you are looking at and don't be misled by more money being a better car, I looked at 10 before buying my car.

Sorry, I see its 41k, bit better.

Edited to add: just had a look through the classifieds search set from low to high and prices even for high mile cars do seem to have risen fairly significantly since I bought mine :-)

I would still be cautious / aware of the way mileage cars are viewed, and also high number of owners.

I would try to go manual if possible, 1999 and 41k and F1 seems a little high to my mind, mike

Hi, any advice on what anyone would value a two owner 360 Modena, Argento ,blue carbon seats, manual with 18k miles. The car has been sat for the past 6/7 years and not run but the mileage is genuine and due to the fact it has not been on the road has no service history apart from prior to purchase. Belts changed and service prior to purchase at Macaris a few month before she was laid up. Every year it has been declared as sorn so it has been off the road and a couple of years ago was stripped and fully resprayed. What are the downsides of the gap in service history and if it was to go on the market what would be the correct asking price ?

Downside is the colour , and as you are aware missing history, have you got a print out of all the sorn notices ? That would help show why no service history, other thing that looks funny is why was an unused car painted ? 7 years ago it would only have been 3 ?
Value, as a private sale mid to late 30's at a guess ?

I have put in a bid at 39,500 and just waiting to see if they accept it. It has had all the ball joints done. They have sent me a big list of everything. Quite a comprehesive list of work completed.

What would an independent inspection give me? Or prove? Do they look at the engine?

In theory they go over the entire car top to bottom and give you a report as to the findings.
your looking at somewhere around the £300 mark which for peace of mind is well worth it.
They will give you wear on discs, pads, and clutch etc etc, so in theory you are aware of any impending jobs / bills coming up.

Get someone like Tim at walkersport to inspect for you or the Ferrari Centre maidstone.

39k is probably fair enough given if it was an 18,000 mile pampered with full annual history it would be on at £47k more likely...
As long as the paint is in good order and you get it fully checked out for £300-400 then I see no big issue with the price - you can quote me in a year, but i cant see these going down in value... 348's are up, 355's are up... if you want something more usable and reliable (box tickers for me) then the 360 is all thats left.

sorry edit- Im talking 39K for the 18k miler silver car.
as for the red F1, yes £41ish for that spec and history (seats make it pretty special) seems fair play to me.

How/where was it stored? It does seem odd it was fully repainted whilst not in use. I have a 33k mile, 2000 car that has been used and the only paint its had (or needed) was the front bumper for stone chips. I'd really want to understand the background to this.
If it's been in a dry store then it should be OK but if it has been in a damp environment there may be all sorts of mechanical issues lurking underneath.
You will also need to factor in the full recommissioning costs and as a marker Nick Cartwright had a very similar car for £46k/£47k which was for sale for a good while.

Hard to value without inspecting it but I'd say anywhere low to high 30's depending on condition.

just found this. 8k less mileage. similar history. 2 k less. might be able to chip them down a bit more.

are black ferrari's generally cheaper than red ones?

they are a fairly colour priced marque, Rosso being the most desirable, silvers being the least, with the likes of TDF and black in the middle somewhere, yellow being in the love it or hate it camp.
