to be fair the others have sold, mate, but stay away from the 41k one unless you can get it for 37 ish and spend the money putting it right.....
Thats interesting, it has been for sale for ages I wondered why. I guess these things are usually cheap for a reason. And if they aren't cheap and still lingering, they've got problems...I went to see the red car at Autoofficina a few weeks ago. I agree with others who also made the journey to see the car - there were several 'red flags'. In particular:
- The car was originally supplied to the Malaysian market, where it spent the first year of its life, it then came to the UK. The speedo was changed from kmh to mph (at Foskers I believe) and the requisite number of kms were added to the new mph speedo (I saw a doc to testify to this). However, whilst I don't have a problem with this, a lot of purchasers do - making it trickier to sell on.
- There was a big pile of invoices, which is great. However, I was told that whilst the last owner had spent lots of money on the car, funds had dried up and so he was selling it on (yes, the car is on SOR). So that sets off alarm bells - is there another big bill lurking?
- The interior looked like it had seen better days. The carbon backs looked scruffy. The alcantara needed a good clean. There was a tear in the driver's seat bolster.
- There were several patches of bubbling on the exterior - bottom of drivers door, top of passenger door, front bumper, and one of the engine intakes I seem to remember.
I was told that the paint could be sorted for around 2k. But the amount of bubbling made me think that it has been sitting around uncovered for some time.
I'm sure there's fundamentally a good car under there, but anyone buying the car should expect to spend a bit to put it right.
I ended up looking at several cars - manual, F1, black, silver, blue, red - and finally settled on a car a few weeks ago. Good luck to those that are searching - it's worth it in the end! Be patient!
