what seems to be universally agreed is that a ppi is a good idea. Would any if you know anyone you'd recommend in the Midlands/Yorkshire area, and/or do you know what sort of cost they'd be.

If you think the attitude to servicing in the UK is "interesting" you should try it here in Dubai... almost no-one bothers with annual servicing and when the main dealer PPId my 360 despite it being 11 years old with no evidence of servicing they said that as it had only done 9,000km changing the cambelt was a waste of time and not needed...

I partially lucked out in the end and traced the Japanese history of the car but even then my late 2001 car only has the following history

13-12-07_________1911km________service
14-10-08_________4362km________service + cambelt
19-09-09_________8800km________service
17-09-10_________n/a___________service (prior to export from Japan to Dubai)
28-12-13_________9200km________major service + cambelt (on my purchase)
12-08-14_________14,200km______service

Now I know that the gap between 2010 and 2013 was due to the car sitting in a collection in Dubai not even road registered and it would appear that the gap from 2001 to 2007 was the same thing but in Japan.
In the UK I'm sure that this (lack of) history would make the car almost unsaleable but here in Dubai actually having that much history is a rarity and will likely make the car easier to sell..... it's a strange old world!

Loads and loads of talk about this across all forums......

FWIW I'm in the annual service camp and I've always believed regular oil changes are the key to a long and happy engine life. I even change the oil in between services on my BMW condition based schedule.
The odd gap would not put me off though. I'd look at it in the whole.......

Other than opinion, I've never seen any scientific basis for an annual change.....I would love to see a sample of low use oil being tested against a new sample and what the difference actually is......very little I suspect but would like to be corrected.

The type of use will have a far bigger impact than age/miles on lubricant life. Short journeys, high rev's, temperatures etc.......

I'd agree with this. In the 'car being parked in a collection and not being used' scenario. I'd probably service it before returning it to the road. If however it's getting some regular use (of any sort) I'd be in the annual service camp.

As you can see from my title I'm a Porsche fanatic - 996 X50 Turbo with a manual gearbox. Childhood dream etc. and very happy with it.

Now researching a 360 and rckon aftre a year or so, I will be ready to look seriously at a car for purchase. I find voicey's post very helpful. The one or two differences I've noticed about the Ferrari market and the Porsche market are:
1. The scarcity of numbers - I looked today and just 10 cars came up on AutoTrader. A Lot more Porsche 996 Turbo's. So I think anyone holding a database and tracking prices is really helpful when I come to enquire about a particular car I've seen.
2. I find that looking at the ads, most have had an annual service to Ferrari schedule and on-the-dot cambelt changes. As these cars do so little annual mileage - I do about 4k miles in the Turbo where prior owners did around 1k per annum (2002 Turbo bought at genuine 22k miles and now under my ownership at 30k!) In the Porsche world, there are a lot of knackered dogs/high milers with 70k plus miles out there which suggests that there are owners who can afford to buy into the marque but may be challenged to maintain in tip-top condition - just my observation and opinion. I hope the same does not apply to a 360 purchase.

I also find the Aldous Voice data and blogs extremely helpful - there is no such pwerson(s) offering that to Porsche owners and aspiring Porsche owners. So keep it up please. I for one find all this information extremely helpful.

The classifieds here are probably the best place to start your search.......I think there are about 900 Modenas and 900 Spiders in the UK.
Good ones are becoming scarcer so if you restrict the spec you want too much it won't help.

900 spiders, I find that stat pretty amazing, given that there are only a handful of cars for sale, I really would like to know the true figures.

I do know there are only a couple of red ones for sale, I just cannot imagine 800 odd spiders and 900 odd coupes parked in garages around the uk.

You never ever see any around Norfolk, Suffolk. Mike

I also find it hard to believe that many spec'ed the hairdressers version! biggrin

Joking apart, I think the figures are there or thereabouts. About 10% of 18000 cars came to the UK. Many have been exported but there will still be at least 1400 plus here.

I think the numbers on sale at any time can be quite high and up to 5% of the total. Also remember with most people doing a few K miles a year, you wont bump into one every day.
