I'm pre empting the fact that at 6'3" I'm simply not going to enjoy the seating position of the standard F430 seats and with them being rare to find in the cars I'm looking at think I may have to source some, which is proving difficult! Maybe I should only search for one with the seats already?

Who's the manufacturer of them or are they built by Ferrari themselves? Has anyone ever tried fitting any other commercially available carbon sports seats with a lower seating position and having them trimmed to match or does anyone know what the sell for if and when they turn up 2nd hand?

Pretty sure they are Sparco so you could buy trim & fit after-market as the likelihood is you will not be able to find a set of genuine carbon seats separate from a car

They sell for several thousand a pair now on the very rare occasion they come up and then they would probably be in the wrong colour. They are also S,M,L (maybe XL unless that is US only smile).

If I had to have them then I'd buy a car with them in already. If necessary on a standard car fit OMP or the like.
As said above, I think Sparco manufacture them but you would only buy the generic version of them without the horsey's

So what I don't understand is why they're so much when you can buy these mounts and seats online then have trimmed to match your interior? I think the seats aren't made anymore but Sparco do plenty that are similar, if not better / lower.

No idea, if it's the same seat shell I don't see why it would make any difference. This is in contrast to the 355, where similar seat shells are unobtanium from the OEM and a pair of original seats goes for five to ten grand. I wanted the carbon seats in my 355, in the end I bought another car with them fitted.

Have you had an extended drive of a car with standard seats?

I'm 6'2" and never had a problem with them, other than food or fuel stops and a 30 minutes leg stretch on the tunnel I did a 17 hour drive back from Monaco, got out as fresh as a daisy...you may be pre empting something that won't trouble you?

You need to try sports seats before deciding you want them. They are considered by a lot of people as very uncomfortable. They were made by Sparco (i know the Sparco guys well) and even they do not think they are very comfortable! The 458 seats are a totally different design and are very comfortable. In a 430 the most popular seats and considered the most comfortable are the Daytona.

Totally disagree re your comment on the 430/360 sports seats, from personal experience they are THE best option for comfort. 1000 miles in a day in mine without an ache. ergo design is just perfect.

I agree the sport seats are comfortable and have a lot more padding than my performante alcantara sport seats.

I found the fingers of the Daytona's stuck into my back like ridges and were really uncomfortable

Had daytonas in mine and they were comfortable on long trips but wish I'd held out for sports seats after trying a car with them AFTER I'd purchased. Simple case of 'in' rather than 'on' for me - much more of a go-kart feel with the sports seats
