Hi all,
I Have replaced the manifolds on my 430 with AP (=Fabspeed) manifolds which has removed OEM pre cat, I'm looking to fully de cat as I have had a few CEL's around CAT temp etc and about to get some Tubi test pipes (I have a Tubi back box)

I know I will get a CEL, Just want to be sure this can be mapped out, has anyone gone for a full de cat?! some people seem to still have a CEL post re map? I'm not to bothered about getting a power map just want to be sure the fuelling is right and no CEL when fully de-catted!

Anyone done this or got experience of it?!

I suspect you'll be voiding your insurance so pray you don't ever have somebody inspect it for a claim. If that's not the case, somebody please correct me!

You would just inform the insurance, as you technically should for the manifold replacement too.

I wouldn't suggest a decat. The net performance gain is so small and the noise and smell are - for me - unbearable.

Agreed - the full de-cat sounds very agricultural. I'd go for 200 cel and the warning light can be mapped out...

I'm not doing it for a performance gain just to stop cat temp cel I have had previously. Happened on a euro road trip last year and went into limp mode to 'protect the cats' heat etc
Tubi test pipes are cheaper than Capristo cats, looking at both options.
I know it's subjective and personal preference but have you heard a fully de cat 430 in real life?!

Worth checking you haven't got an underlying issue? Were you on high octane unleaded at the time or regular?

My experience of decat is on other cars. For the F430 it's just Youtube vids and judging the sound level from my own car with replacement manifolds.

Was on Germany super unleaded (100 Octane stuff) at the time!
Only use V-power in the uk.

cel code was cat temp range exceeded (after a day of high speed running on the Autobahn)
Frankfurt Ferrari main dealer tech who I dropped in for them to take a look at, at the time said: 'no cats, no problem!' (in a high pitched allo allo ascent! lol)

The slow down light is lit for a reason - either there's a problem with the monitoring system (likely) or a problem with combustion in the engine. Either way I'd want to find out the cause as opposed to taking away the cats.

Only had 'slow down' cel that one day in Germany last summer after a full day on the Autobahn. Frankfurt Ferrari tech checked it over then and no issues with the car, not had limp mode since although have had a couple temp sensor errors.

Absolutely. Removing the cats won't cure an underlying fuelling issue caused by something like an air leak or MAF fault.

The car is booked in for service and full check over in just over a week prior to any test pipe install (or race cats if I go that route).
The tech found no issues last year with the car when he checked it and did suggest it was a faulty sensor.

But you should get to the bottom of it.....
Removing the cats may prevent over-fuelling related reversion issues, but over the long term running around with a sensor/fuelling problem can cause catastrophic engine wear.

Yes, the is fully checked next week at the service along with expected refresh of cv joints with hills engineering parts etc

There is a guy on ferrarilife forum called 430Addict, check out his build thread, he had test pipes. He said the noise was awesome, but low down torque was missing, and it was ridiculously boomy.

You can always give Syvecs a called regards remapping.
