I've been offered a cancelled order today on something very special. It's a no brainer purchase. The F dealer will take my Speciale in PX at 220K. It's done 1K miles, is in TdF with white nart/ carbon heavy/ charcoal interior. Was 249K new, supplied by them to me last August. I need to move very fast. Is the offer fair? Any thoughts please. Cheers.

Hi Camlet

If it's an Aperta - then no brainer. If it's a LaF - then no brainer.

But I would get out on a track at least once - to see if it's worthwhile chopping it in! I'm sure the dealer will put it up at slight overs.....

Spa on Wednesday/Thursday....

Just saying...smile

Depends what you are buying and what margin they have in that but I'm sure people were saying these Speciales were fetching premiums ?????
Strange that they are offering you £30k behind and keeping full margin in theirs.

Something doesn't add up IMHO. Dealer possibly has you over a barrell if he has a rare in demand car and unless you can deal without px or at least bridge the gap until sold privately

Hi mate. Can't comment on the no brainer part but I'm with you that with the spec/condition my Speciale will be marketed by them at list or more. Can't blame for that but 30K delta feels like I'm paying hard for the "favour" (no change there lol). Just trying to gauge.

Assuming it is one of the two possibilities then in current market "profit" on new purchase outweighs loss on Speciale.Despite loss NAV increases substantially so herindoors shoud be happy.

Any idea what the dealer will in turn sell it on for? Blue can't be everyone's cup of tea, and I am guessing they will put it up at £249,995. Got to make a profit I guess.

C, assuming they can longer be ordered, and the rave reviews they have had, should be easy to offload mate via SOR?? mike at marque1 cars charges a fixed fee, and will take any pex...

I know what you mean. The head is no brainer but the Speciale coupe is wicked and heart is saying otherwise.

Not making any assumptions but have you seen the Chris Harris review of the Aperta ?
Seems to be as good as the Speciale but more exclusive.
Having said that I'm never getting rid of mine !!

If you chop your Speciale it will have cost you £29 per mile. A sobering thought unless you make a healthy profit on what you've been offered.

I suspect there are other considerations in play here though?

Yes, it's called a bloody 458 Speciale Aperta. I was perfectly happy with my Speciale but if your Ferrari dealer calls you and says hey, do you fancy an Aperta which you can still spec - er, but we need to know like now and what colour, it's extremely sobering. In fact positively disruptive. Anyway bks, I've said yes and ordered pretty much the same spec as my Speciale now.

Awesome 2am post. Let's face it, the SA it's going to be worth a lot more than 30k over list when you drive it home. Congratulations.

Congratulations, the Aperta is very special indeed (no pun intended) but unless the dealership is predicating your allocation on the fact that you have to sell them the Speciale for £220k there is no way I would do it.So far as I can tell they are still excellent news and I think you could do much better than that...just my 2p worth.Good luck and well played again on the Aperta.

Thanks. In fairness to the dealer, they did not make their sale of the Aperta to me conditional on the sale of my Speciale back to them. Kind of you to say but I didn't really do anything except take the call (thankfully I wasn't travelling) and perhaps the ton of ear bashing I gave the dealer when I was excluded first time around. And judging from strong private interest the Speciale will not be used in PX either.
