i m trying to connect a obd ii port to my 355. i have read http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... and wired a socket.

my plug however does not work with my scanner. i have checked i have continutiy between all the pins and the new socket. I wondered if there was a difference as my car is a uk f1 spider and the picture i believe is from ferrari chat, a us car.

I have looked behind my drivers seat and seee there is a motronic unit with a plug with 3 wires hanging out. Is this where we in the uk connect to or do we still use the blue plug behind the passenger seat?

lifted this from Ferrarichat for you:

If it had an OBD2 plug, it would be located under the dash, but only USA spec cars will have OBD2 plugs.

As you have discovered, Euro-spec cars only have the 3-pin connectors for use with the factory dianostic computers.

All of the other systems (ABS, Climate control, etc) have their own 3-pin connectors for diagnostic purposes, even on the OBD2 compliant versions. Only the Motronic control unit is connected to the OBD2 connector.

Just get one of these; http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/GTI-OBD2-DIAGNOSTIC-CABLE-...

And hook it up to your choice of obd tester. Job done.

Thanks for the link. However I went to my local scrap yard and cut off a plug with a bit of a loom. Which they gave me.

It was the plug behind the drivers seat, three wires to the console and a 12v feed and it all worked.

Didn't know these existed either! Any idea where I can find the port on a 550?
