Taking a 2007 soft top as an example, the typical price for a 20k miles seems to be about 90k. Talking dealers here, what would you offer and expect to be accepted price wise?

To think I sold my full spec late 2009 F430 F1 spider with sub 10,000 miles 2 years ago for £85k the prices today seem crazy.
I guess that car would be advertised for at least £100k now which starts to put it into early McLaren MP4 12C coupe price category and believe me there is no comparison between the 2 cars.
As much as I loved the F430 spider it does not compare in terms of performance

i guess thats hardly surprising given the power difference, it is a 10 year newer design after all... though on the plus side the 430 looks better, sounds better, has more racing pedigree and you can get it with a proper gearbox, normal doors and its not full of computers designed to flatter the driver... ; ) each to his own eh?

+1... For me also, there's a lot more to owning a Ferrari than just performance - In fact how the car performs when pushed to the limit, really wasn't that high on my list when I decided to buy a 6 speed manual F430 Spider.

Not sure that I would describe the F1 transmission of the 430 as a proper gearbox any more than an old fashioned manual.

But no one has told me how much to offer against an asking price so even if I was an american I couldnt do the math.

I think you'll find they're the only 2 gearbox options available, so maybe this is not the car for you..... In answer to your initial question, don't you think you're better off asking the dealer what he'll take? You'll get a far more accurate response!

proper gearbox = manual

you can offer what you like, its your money afterall, maybe start at £80k.... my feeling is you won't get much off the asking price, if it has a "proper" gearbox it would be sold already wink

My Porsche is manual, my F430 is F1, i wouldn't change either, if you want an F430 manual you will now pay a premium, friend of mine has one, when I spoke to him yesterday he told me a main dealer has made an offer of £120k against their £147k 458 that is sitting in their showroom, I think if he wanted the 458 he may get the deal done with very little extra cash to pay, by summer next year it will be a direct swap out!!
As you know they made a lot more F1's and the prices are pretty stable so getting money off the list prices will be difficult in my opinion, 360's still rising also!!
hope that helps!!

£120k vs £147k.... WOW. That's unbelievable if it's true. Why wouldn't he deal there, seems a no brainer to me.

Agree. My manual 430 was good but 458 is a different level entirely.

perhaps because his 430 is rising in value and the 458 is reducing in value? "no brainer" if you want to lose money rolleyes

Pinning your hopes on an increase in value from a £120k PX seems bullishly speculative in the extreme. The relatively small jump up from £120k to £147k for a far superior car is well worth it. If you are that worried about money why even both looking at £100k cars in the first place!?

Just for balance, I have an F1 F430, I got to drive a Manual, and as nice as it is, after doing about 2k miles in the last 2 months in my F1 F430, I much prefer the box to the manual - the way it aggressively bangs in to gear (at lightening speed) in race mode, the down shift noise.. the whole experience is amplified for me.

But, don't get me started on traffic...

Quite! I live in a country area with lots of nice bendy B roads. Or at least they would be nice if it werent for the clusters of cars trundling along them. Once you get three cars line astern with no real gap in between, it wouldnt matter if you were in a laFerrari, you still wouldnt get past. So I end up using the bike all the time if I dont have to carry a lot of stuff.

Makes you wonder about buying any really nice car like a 430. And when I think back to my student days - no speed limits, no motorways, do breathaliser and above all, no traffic. Didnt realise what we had.

Jeez Bordseye, you must be knocking on a bit!!!

From what I understand the 30mph speed limit was introduced in 1930, if these were your student days, then you must be well in excess of 100 years old!!!

Maybe you should be thinking more mobility scooter than F430 smile

Exactly how I feel about my F1 430, whats not to like!!!

As an update, my mate wants to keep his F430 coupe manual, he's had it a while now and has very low mileage at only 6k

+1
I have been using my 1299 more as you don't get stuck in the national 40/50mph convoy that clogs the roads during the day! frown
