New owner of 1995 2.7m spider manual gearbox in south east, any suggestions for events over the summer and is it worth joining Ferrari owners club of GB?

Learning more and more about the 355 and it's my first Ferrari so any suggestions appreciated, thank you.

Waiting for that sun to come out

April 30 Auto Italia is always fun http://www.auto-italia.co.uk/events.asp - not sure what proportion of Ferrari specific events get mentioned here on PH

Why not join the Ferrari Owners Club?

Loads of events on every month. Usually top draw too and with good people.

Hoping to do a couple of track days with FOC this year and attend as many events as time allows..

I have paid for other non car related memberships before and not got much out of it so yeah you may have just saved me money smile

355 has Been my dream since I first laid eyes on it in my teenage years.

Glad I got a Manual too, getting Capristo stage 2 fitted too soon, I can't wait to hear the V8 wail. Then I will get rid of the crappy airbag steering wheel for an oldskool Momo. Mine is a 1995 2.7m but because it's from USA they probably had to have the Airbag one due to laws in USA at the time.

Cracking choice of transportation sir!

I've had my 355 F1 GTS for over 3 years now. I can't ever imagine selling it.

I love looking at it in the garage in the winter.
I love driving it to the coast in the summer.
I love redlining it through the Alpine tunnels every couple of years.
I love the fact that I did just what you did and bought the only car I ever really, really wanted.

The appreciating value is just a bonus!

Enjoy your car....FWIW I joined the FOC. Some might say £110 is a lot for half a dozen magazines a year. But you do get exclusive track days and the mag is a decent read - good way to find out about more events nationwide. It's probably worth signing up for a year to see what you think. It's not a lot of money in the grand scale of Ferrari ownership.

Look out for local supercar clubs too

Yeah I planned to get down to Switzerland or Italy, especially want to drive on the Mulsane pass, perfect 355 spider territory in summer

I really wanted a GTS Instead of Spider as it has best of both worlds, berlinetta looks and open air driving, they seem to be commanding a high premium with the manual gearbox that I wanted.

I can only imagine all the selfie takers these days trying to get a photo off themselves next to it I haven't driven it out in public yet so don't know what attention it's going to draw, people take selfies over anything these days.

precisely the reasons I bought a GTS, though mine's an F1. If you believe these message boards then the F1 box is a truly awful abomination of technology. Ha ha. It's really not that bad, I quite like it now I'm used to it. I bought a great plate to match the car too :-)

In truth, I would have preferred a manual box too, but there wasn't one available when I was buying (at least not in Red/Crema/RHD in January 2013 - before anyone shoots me) and it wasn't a must have for me anyway. If I'd waited a few months, I might have got one, but then I would have had to pay an extra 5-10K for the car as I got mine just before boom in prices.

That is pretty much my favourite Rosso + crema GTS with manual gearbox. I don't dispute the F1 is good, never driven one myself, there was an F1 just like yours for sale but if only it had a manual gearbox I would have bought it frown. Still happy with my yellow spider though smile
