I'm a 360 owner and I grew up thinking Tubi was the greatest sounding exhaust. I've removed the car's standard silencer and am going through the process of ordering replacement. But I'm stalling...

I read that some removed their Tubi because it's too loud. Worrying - I want the car useable in normal driving, traffic, and rarely for UK airfield/training/track days. I don't need loud. This replaced a V8 Vantage and is already much louder!

The standard exhaust is no longer available, so can anyone with experience please pass opinion on the volume of the Tubi exhaust for me. Did it drone?

I'd rather not throw money at one only to learn that it doesn't suit. Of course, what I should have done is joined the owners club and attended a meet to find owners with Tubis, before removing my exhaust. But hindsight is wonderful.

It's been off the road for 6 weeks now. Oh well, at least I'm not putting any miles on it!

Really grateful for input or even pointing me to where I can hear a Tubi'd 360!

There's loads of sound clips here and all over the internet but essentially you are unlikely to get on any track day

When I purchased my 360 it already had a Tubi exhaust on it.

I was always unsure of its appeal and was uncomfortable with the volume, certain neighbours loved it but could tell which road I took out of the village, when I took a friend's other half out he commented that the car was barely out of ear shot for the ten minute ride.

I swapped it for a standard one after a couple of years.

It was just too extroverted for me after all you get enough attention in a bright red Ferrari without announcing your arrival five minutes before you get there.

I would say listen to a few before choosing to go that route, I am glad I swapped to standard.

Thanks.

Johnny - is that from personal experience?

So that's a big fat no for these then? Surprising as there are so many cars around with aftermarket and sports exhausts fitted.

way too loud imo, depends on what you're doing with the car though - some people like to make a lot of noise in city centers!

Way too loud? Don't agree with that. Is there maybe different levels of Tubi?

I had a 360 with Tubi exhaust plus Tubi decats - now that was proper loud. Sounded amazing (and I guess we're a bit lucky up here with no noise restrictions at Knockhill).

Eventually I tired of being loud for all the reasons stated above but simply refitting the cats solved all that - after that it was nice and rorty but not anti-social at all. I'd say just do it thumbup

The tubi to many is a wonderful sound, but it's not to all. I love it, but I too couldn't live with it. Have a look at a capristo or larini, it will cost more but you can control the valves with these so on a day you want to be brash and in their face it's loud. But also quiet and enough to track if needed

I put a Tubi on my 360 a couple of years ago and wouldn't consider it too loud by any stretch... to me it gives the car the voice it deserves.
Never had any negative comments about it in 10k miles either.

Still sounds like a no, then.

WCZ, R36vw, offshorematt2 and K50 DEL - were these experiences with the standard tubi or the 'loud' tubi?

Another option: I have read and heard it is common to fit the tubi silencer without using the tubi tailpipes, instead using the standard 'valved' tailpipes that come with the factory exhaust setup. Tubi will sell the silencer alone and workshops tell me they've fitted this setup to cars. I'm still tempted to try that and see if I can find a spot I'm happy with. Has anyone here done this?

On the Capristo, Larini, etc, nothing I have heard (admittedly online only so far) has the same sweetness as the tubi - to my ears and tastes of course. Although switchable Capristo sounds like a great piece of engineering.

Mine is fitted with standard manifolds and cats then a stage 2 Tubi with Tubi pipes.
It is noiser than the standard system that was on the car when I bought it (that system had had the valves wired permanently open) but it really isn't crazy noisy, the neighbours don't complain about 6am starts or anything like that.

If you're local to me then I'm happy to drop by so you can hear the car yourself.

I love the factory race exhaust but with regard to the Tubi, I test drove a 360 Spider and although fun for a short drive, everything about the car was simply noise. Anything more than short local blasts and I think it'd really get on my nerves. I couldn't tell you which Tubi it was though...

Must have been a more severe one than mine, I've done several 500 mile + journeys, roof off and never once did it get on my nerves!

Very possibly, this one was silly intrusive and it was def' a Tubi.

We used to have a guy who lived in our village with a sports exhaust of some sort on his 360 and that sounded awesome, a much higher pitch. It made me smile every time he drove past the house smile

I drove a tubi equipped 360 Spider to Le Mans years ago, i don't recall much about the trip other than the god awful drone the exhaust made under part throttle.. it was removed and returned with a refund with days of returning.
Capristo all the way for me, both on a 360 and a 355...

It's very difficult to get a Ferrari on a track day even with the standard exhaust - you'll be limited to the rare (and therefore expensive) "noisy" days (even 105db is pushing it in a 360/430/458). I believe there are systems/extensions you can fit which limit the volume but I have no experience of those.

from memory people were quite fond of Timate titanium (not sure about spelling, Taiwanese) exhausts, esp interesting as it also saved a lot of weight. that is what I would look at, might be quite loud though.

It's Loud for some but personally I love it! I love sound of 360 CS too, I just got switchable valve put on my 355 with Capristo level 2 so I can choose when I want to be loud or not wink

All aftermarket manifolds are to loud, I wasted money on Fabspeed/AP's on my F430, the sound was ludicrous, no way you could open the throttle without informing every police car in a 25 mile radius, was force to go back to stock which is frankly, just right on the F430's, the 360's had a very different stock sound to the F430 and have no experience with this model.
