Has anyone retrofitted a different coloured seatbelt to their 458? I have a Nero Daytona car with yellow caliper's and a full black interior and IMHO yellow seatbelts would really lift the interior of the car. Is the changeover a mechanical one or will the car need to be programmed etc? Don't want to have any warning lights pop up as the car is still under warranty smile

The physical change can easily be done by someone like quickfitsbs - the warranty and/or lights might be a different question....

I just did the reverse - changing yellow seatbelts on my Nero Daytona 458 spider for black ones. Had to be done by the dealer, as he had to order the black seatbelts from the factory and install them, due to their having an explosive charge somewhere in the mechanism. I had read the same on one of the US Ferrari forums beforehand, so it wasn't the dealer taking me for a ride. Cost would normally be a couple of grand, but I obtained a reduction. Process took a couple of weeks to get the belt from the factory and then a day to install.

The explosive charge is the seatbelt pretensioner all cars have them, just make sure you disconnect the battery before doing anything with the seat belts and you'll be fine.

I'd be interested to see how easy / costly this is to fit too.

Have a giallo exterior with nero interior so wouldn't mind changing the seatbelts from black to yellow!

Dick Lovett changed mine from Black to Red while I waited, about 2 hrs. The belts were back ordered for about 2 months.

An old post but worth a try!

Has anyone had a company strip the belt mechanism down and change the colour of the belt Web?

I have found a company in the UK that will swap the Web colour for £30 per belt if you deliver and collect your mechanism

Anyone done this ?

There is a company at Bicester Heritage that do it. On the Porsche Boxster forum I have read about people taking them out and getting a 1-2 day turnaround. They are not trivial to get out on the Boxster, I would imagine same for modern F cars. They are quite complex items now connected into the airbag/crash detection systems. There may also be anti tamper markers on the bolts. That is why I got a dealer to just change the whole lot.

There was a guy on here, adamDJ or something I think his name was who had this done when be bought his 458 from DL - had them swapped to red. His thread didnt go very well though when he tinted the windows.... think he got a little upset on the responses and had the whole thread deleted...

wonder what happened to him....

I have used SBS Quikfit in the past and was extremely happy with the work they did on my old 911. But there were no electronics or explosives involved.

Do you have the yellow belts still? Would you sell them?
