Look at the 599 and the F430 values and you get a pretty decent answer (without taking in to consideration the last of the naturally aspirated engine scenario). The F430s are still rock solid many years after the 458 and the 599s are still holding well even though the F12 has come through. All IMHO off course.

When I bought my 488 the dealer asked me if I was Px my 458 spider to which I replied no he said that's a shame as he would offer me 25k more than I paid for it 2 years ago if I would sell it ( originally purchased from this dealer) Obviously had a buyer for it in mind but being the last of the n/a V8's Its a keeper for now.
I think the 458's values will go skyward eventually so am holding onto mine.

Interesting. How long ago was this that the dealer offered you a P/X?

Was told by a main dealer that prices are much higher than expected, he's having to pay £180k for 2014 Spiders with circa 10k-12k miles, his view is the 488 is not and will not impact values of 458's, of course when I come to sell him mine it'll be worthless as it's the wrong Year, colour, mileage

488's will have an impact on 458 eventually.
People will come round to the newer technology but right now the last V8 N/a Ferrari is having its day.
Maybe the 458 Speciale with low miles will hold its current values for collectors but even so there loads of them for sale today at silly prices and as a regular production car far too many were made.

What amazes me more than 458 prices is F430 prices which are completely insane IMHO. 458 and 12C are vastly superior cars yet some F430's are advertised at well over £100k - in comparison that makes no sense to me.

I'm not sure I would buy either a 458 or F430 right now at these strong prices but if I had to I'd rather sink it into a 458 after a 12C

JTC Brooklands had a very nicely specced 3k mile Rosso 458 Spider recently up for IIRC £205k.. was watching it out of curiosity as it was basically my ideal spec, and it appears to have sold, so values are definitely holding firm.

True, but there is still some air between F430 and 458 prices, around £40k in dealer money at any rate. As you say though, if you can find a private seller who is probably getting dealer offers of around £125k for their car, it's a no-brainer.
