I've got to say I was a little underwhelmed with Scud ownership furthermore the upgrade from Scud to 458 was a revelation. For anything other than investment I wouldn't go backward unless I intended to lock it up in a garage and put no miles on it.
The 458 does everything better and in my mind is a better looking car although I appreciate the latter is purely my opinion.
As previously stated I'd only consider these cars as a source of pleasure and not investment and for those on here that snipe about the value falling out of the Ferrari marque I'd take little notice, they often have an axe to grind.
I do agree that the 458 is better looking than the 430 but I see things a bit differently. I have not driven a 458 but test drove the 488. To me it was too fast and too refined at the same time. For me "better" is to be more raw and connected to the car and that's why I chose the CS. Having driven the Scud though I would definitely have it over later machinery like 458 / 488 and possibly over a speciale too (but I haven't driven one of those yet!)
I'm with you on the CS to be honest. I owned one just before the prices went daft! Not so sure a car can be too quick for the road in my opinion. I say that on the basis that when a group of us go for a blast the difference on the road cross country between us is quite small whether your running 600bhp of 150!. after all the throttle can be applied it's not an on off switch.

I may be in a minority of one but I think the 488 tips the balance in being too fast for the road. It spools up to the (lower) rev limiter all the time and you have to change up and that space you intended to enjoy just suddenly compresses into nothing and you have to brake. On a track it is absolutely fantastic. Much better than the 458. On the road, I actually enjoy the 458 a bit more.

I have no opinion on the Scud versus 458 as I have not been lucky enough to drive a Scud frown

Interesting thread on many owners swapping their 458 for a 430 Scud...

Seems a popular move wink

Makes sense protecting your capital and getting out of the 458 at todays high prices and investing it back in a limited number 430 Scuderia which is probably more sheltered in any price correction.

Its almost a hedge bet. People then justifying the "backward" step as driving experience more so than investment.

As long as they drive the scud like they stole it and don't just park it up frightened to death of putting miles on it and reducing the value then I don't think you can complain.
To me having a car you cannot drive is a crime and not an option for me personally yet one of my friends has several high end cars in storage and never drives them. It seems to keep him happy having the money in collectable cars more so than bricks and mortar

Beautiful car but the stripe doesn't do it any favours: it's way too thick and the taper is all wrong.

Congrats looks nice in black.
The stripe(s) are an important part for me helping differentiate it from standard F430 and personally I prefer the 2 stripes in grey as below. If you are not sold on the single Italian flag colours one you have now maybe you could change them

i have not had the opportunity to drive a speciale or a 488, but they are out of my league anyhow ! so im very lucky and happy to have the SCUD, i think the 458 i had before is a better car in many ways, of course it is the design development on many levels makes that understandable, but as the SCUD is limited edition and the engineers put a little extra 'something' (many things) in to these limited edition models be it, stradale, scuderia or speciale they feel very different machines to drive and its that thrill that i enjoy alot......
