So (OP), what spec/colour are you thinking about?

I drove a 488 with the standard seats (rather too briskly according to some cross PSNI gentlemen) and found them to be excellent, they have more grip than the standard 458 seats - but I think I would stump up for the race ones. And of course led's and shields are "essential". After that, not so sure.

You have posted your name, where you live, what cars you have (and notably one that you didn't), how rich you are and even when you are out of the country. Odd for one who craves privacy.

And you have personally abused many on here, me included. Clown.

Yeah right. The safety of my family is paramount and I do not appreciate others posting my personal details on a public forum as I'm sure you don't want yours.
As usual you are talking 80ll0ck5.
No doubt your chuckle brother TP321 will be along later.
Expect he must be still busy eating humble pie after the 2nd carbon tub turned up.
Are all McLaren owner's like this? If so, you can keep it. RamboLambo I don't know you and don't care for much you say but you are becoming child like on these forums. Why not give it a rest eh?

I came on this thread to view OP's 488 or whatever he buys as I have a love for car's, not to hear about how great your MCL is.

I am still to decide if I should finance some of the purchase or just buy outright, Ferrari finance seems quite an expensive option, does anyone have any experience of better options for financing part of this sort of purchase?
Does anyone have a view on this?

Rambo is a typical passive aggressive troll. A very sad, immature and insecure individual.

As I and others have said, you have posted all of these details yourself. It seems your desire to broadcast your wealth outweighs your wish for privacy and "safety".

Yes, if you can invest the amount you borrow for a higher return net of tax, then use finance. If you can't, pay cash.

Thanks for your constructive view as usual but shouldn't you be expressing them in the BMW section anyway ?

See if you can get that Oct/Nov date brought forward a bit to early September and collect from the factory - it's Ferrari's 70th birthday, so there will be a three-day weekend of celebrations in Maranello.

Italian GP the weekend before that too, if that's your thing.

Looking forward to the McLaren 70th celebrations in Woking Town Square, just outside Peacocks, in 2033 wink
Now that is a great idea smile They said it might be possible re: Sept but said more likely Oct/Nov. I work in motorsport so could probably swing some free hospitality tickets to the GP. The problem is I am about to fly to Argentina for work so will not get the deposit sorted out until early March, which might delay things further.

As its my first Ferrari its going to have to be red with creme interior and red carpets. I don't like lots of carbon fibre but will go for the steering wheel and drivers surround in the cockpit. Maybe engine cover and a few subtle bits on the outside. I need the suspension lift as my drive has quite a slope. The quote with all the options came to about £215k. That of course is not set in stone and I can add and remove things closer to the time when we do the final options. One thing I will say is Mclaren's website is much better than Ferrari's for configuring a car.

Am going to go for the standard seats because we need the electric ones. My wife also wants to drive the car and she is petite so we need the seats to be adjustable. She hates the Daytona seats which is a shame as I like them.

We recently bought a Rangerover which she was very against so I have to give her some say in the Ferrari wink

I really liked the Mclaren, I can't put my finger on it, it just does not have the same appeal as the Ferrari. I think performance wise in my hands they would be very similar.

I drove the 458 recently and loved it, but for me the 488 looks much better and I love the idea of having a turbo charged engine. Years ago I had an MR2 turbo which was the most fun car I have ever owned. I followed that with a Merc CLK 55 AMG. While the V8 sounded great the turbo was just so much more fun.

Hi OP - I haven't done factory collection from Ferrari, but have done (two) factory Ateliers. Now that is worthwhile, as there are options & tweaks that are available that the dealers don't know about!
The days I have been on, with my wife, are truly wonderful, flying out the day before to Bologna, stay local in a lovely Italian Gastro hotel, short drive to the factory to 'walk the line', and you'll see all the different colour & trim combo's - and there are some truly shocking combo's that some people consider 'good taste' vomit
After this, spend an hour or so 'building' your car on the big screen - and the factory rep can pull out all sorts of samples to touch & feel.
Once done, you get a memory stick with your spec, and then across the road into the Cavalinno Restaurant for lunch; you may just bump into members of the Ferrari Racing Team as well.
After lunch, it's back to Bologna and home late evening.
One of pals picked his F12 up from the factory - which actually turned out to be the local dealership at Modena as the factory couldn't do a handover??
Don't forget that the factory is closed all through August - so a lack of cars coming out the gates early September!

If you need any inspiration i saw this on Instagram yesterday and it jumped out as one of the nicest combinations for a 488 i have seen

Azzuro Dino 488

Either way congrats, they are very imposing cars on the road

OP - well done, sounds like a great and safe spec. Nothing wrong with Rosso/Crema - and for the more outlandish colours, they are great for other peoples' cars. That blue is nice though.

On race seats, the fore and aft adjustment mechanism is pretty easy to use although I accept there are less adjustment options - but I would recommend you maybe get your wife to try them and make sure they don't work. I did a 1500 mile hoon a while ago and they were supremely comfortable. They really lift the interior in my view as well. I have black race seats with a red stripe down the middle which I think just gets over the garish border into being dramatic. I love it but crema is nice too.

Have a look at Cuio, a darker leather which in my view anyway is superb.

On the carbon, each to his own and you should do exactly as you want but I think carbon bits in the interior are fairly often regarded as sought after and a carbon engine bay for me just doesn't look as good as the normal red crackle finish (the 488's engine looks a bit tiny and lost in there compared to the 458's so a darker colour may not help).

Anyway the very best of luck and don't forget to come back and post pics.

Thanks Ming that all sounds like very good advice.

I was in the same position as you in December. Having driven both cars I placed the deposit on the Ferrari. Both cars were in my opinion exceptional and it was a close decision. The Ferrari 7 year servicing package was also a nice feature. The options costs on both marques I found a bit mind blowing, but the massive choice will be enjoyable when personalising 'my' car. I was supsrised at your timescale, as I was quoted 12-18 months for delivery. Either decision that you go for will be the right one!
