I was in the same position as you in December. Having driven both cars I placed the deposit on the Ferrari. Both cars were in my opinion exceptional and it was a close decision. The Ferrari 7 year servicing package was also a nice feature. The options costs on both marques I found a bit mind blowing, but the massive choice will be enjoyable when personalising 'my' car. I was supsrised at your timescale, as I was quoted 12-18 months for delivery. Either decision that you go for will be the right one!
Indeed the 4 year warranty and 7 years servicing was a big draw to buying a new car over a used one. The finance options were also vast, although I am leaning towards just buying it outright.

One of pals picked his F12 up from the factory - which actually turned out to be the local dealership at Modena as the factory couldn't do a handover??
Don't forget that the factory is closed all through August - so a lack of cars coming out the gates early September!
Hi Graham was this around July 2015? I had the same problem with an offered solution of collection from the dealer in Modena, I escalated it to FNE and they sorted it, apparently the correct procedures had not been followed to ensure collection was an option

Well they couldn't do that now because there is no longer a Ferrari dealer in Modena.

Probably looking at Oct/Nov which apart from the weather suits me.
I'd take this with a pinch of salt, the dealers I speak to are all quoting Q2 2018 and beyond.

Of course they may well be able to get a current winter build to move to a spring delivery, that's most peoples ideal anyway, or they may be hoping to gain extra allocation towards the end of the year.
As it happens the UK received markedly lower allocations than expected for this year, surprising as the FNE market is the benchmark for the rest of the world and has been for some years now.

I suspect they're keen to get an order and open to 'managing your expectations' later on, having said that once you've hit the button a few weeks either way won't spoil anything much!

Slightly off topic on the 488, which is a superb choice, but I recommend booking the 2 and half day Pilota Course at Fiorano.
Either time it with the atelier booking, or, at collection. Your dealer- nudge nudge, may be able to get you a good price too.. Lots and lots of fun. Driving as hard as you are capable of, in 488 and F12 with skidpan, tests, analysis of your driving skills (in private lol), great restaurants, great company, and more.
You do not use your car on the course, but you can do a few laps after it finishes. Wow, I sound like a salesman (Was once)

Yeah right. The safety of my family is paramount and I do not appreciate others posting my personal details on a public forum as I'm sure you don't want yours.
As usual you are talking 80ll0ck5.
No doubt your chuckle brother TP321 will be along later.
Expect he must be still busy eating humble pie after the 2nd carbon tub turned up.
You just posted today a picture of your house, where it is, the house number, the fact you have a coastal cottage, gloating about how rich you are... you're a muppet, a total muppet and you seem to be totally unaware of this fact.
When I looked at the picture of your two Maccas on your drive Rambo I had a strange urge to order a chicken chow mein.

Do you keep your 2 Maccas in that garage behind them in the pic?

Hey some of us have to have a "cheap" town house to work from to pay for all the cars. Not easy when you live in the most beautiful and 2nd most expensive part of the country.

Maybe I should organise a beach party for Mac owners at my coastal retreat but it will be very exclusive

Invite all your mates along. You can hold the party in the local phone box

Now that sounds like a very good idea. As soon as I get back from Argentina I will be placing a deposit so I will see what the dealer can do on this smile thanks for the advice.

Does anyone know if there is an options list for the 488 with prices anywhere online. I want to try and work out the cost of the different options so I keep to my budget. There are some things that are must haves for me but other stuff that's desirable but not essential.

I would be curious as to what is must have/desirable? Not to try and influence you as you lucky bloke its your choice.

I can only dream of a new 488 (but I have a sneaking feeling I'd be tempted to go for a Speciale) as including local tax a £200k 488 would be €400k+ landed for me and I couldn't stand to give that much to the Revenue.

Anyway, my must haves in case of any interest:

1. shields
2. carbon driver zone and leds
3. carbon race seats
4. 20' forged alloys
5. parking sensors

Nice to haves:

1. Upgrade stereo and ipod/bluetooth phone etc.
2. Dash and centre bridge carbon
3. stitching to lift interior
4. reverse cam
5. more leather bits
6. TPMS

Don't care

1. carbon engine bay
2. carbon bits outside
3. lifter (not necessary in most circumstances, adds weight)

If the 488 reversing camera is anything like as bad as the one on the 458 I was a passenger in, save your money. Parking sensors are sufficient.

Agree on exterior carbon. I like functional carbon, not too keen on decorative pieces. Can easily be retrofitted in any case.

Parking camera's are a complete waste of time. Expensive for what they are and pi55 poor in reality. No different with a McLaren either

For me it's as follows at the moment:

Must haves.

1. shields
2. carbon driver zone and leds
3. 20' forged alloys
4. parking sensors
5. Lifter (my drive has a steep slope although I am going to look at the cost of making it shallower as it might be cheaper than the lifter).
6. 488gtb matts
7. Crema full leather interior

Nice to haves:

1. Upgrade stereo and ipod/bluetooth phone etc.
2. Dash and centre bridge carbon
3. Carbon Engine Cover

Don't care

1. Carbon race seats. The wife wants electric seats as she is a short arse wink
2. reverse camera
3. Most of the carbon exterior parts.

In fairness, I'll downgrade my reverse cam to "don't care" and go along with the crowd (I replaced the one of the little black grille things at the back as it got dented and they disconnected it by mistake and I didn't really miss it).

That sounds like a lovely spec though. Well done, good luck and keep us posted.
