I guess its a case of every day I wake up and decide I'm not going to buy a Ferrari today. It doesn't mean I won't buy one tomorrow!

I'm Ok if I don't think about it. Then I'm in Chelmsford town centre watching the parade to celebrate the 70th anniversary and I start looking for when a '430' comes by and I have to fight the urge to tell the stranger stood next to me...I used to have one of those. Sometimes I toy with the idea of a Maser as a DD because it kind of sounds like a Ferrari...sometimes I think well I've not tried an AM V8V yet, or an R8 as a DD... then I think I'll get myself a 997 and retro mod it, go all tartan with the interior and indulge a Fuchs fetish.... But its still not like buying another of Maranello's finest is it?

My name is David. I am a Ferraraholic.
Some great comments on here. Similar questions going through my mind smile All my porkers have been DD & also thinking maybe I could run an R8 or an AM V8V as a DD.

Can't stop thinking how much Chris Harris really disliked the original cali which has put me off a bit. I have always loved the look of the F430 - looks so stunning but also shouldn't rule out a manual 360. I am hopeful for a 718 GT4 (LOI in since last year from an OPC i bought a new 981 Spyder); but its whether i keep the 997 turbo until the new GT4 is released (2019) or have an interlude with a different marque in the meantime. I do feel the need for a change after a lot of Porsche's.

interesting, i have a similar thought pattern, i've just sold my M4, the 430 is for sale and i'm considering either a 991.1 Turbo S or a new 991.2 GTS... alternatively i've had thoughts about a cheaper R8 V10 cab or and AMV8S Cab.... could do with the rear seats for my 3 year old though(as it at least gives the option of going out as a family)... I hate the look of 911 cabs with the roof down so thats a no no.. i'd also considered a California, watched the Harris video about the Cali T and ruled out the original Cali based on how much he slags it off lol is it really that bad? don't want spend the money on a T as your in 458 territory, then i'm bad to needing another daily!

Why don't you try a California and decide for yourself? You're not buying it for Chris Harris or indeed anyone else. I truly don't understand why people put so much faith in the opinions of TV presenters like Harris, Clarkson et al. Having watched him damage a perfectly lovely Alfa on TG for a pointless exercise in 'drifting' it underlined what a farce it all is. All IMO of course...

Also saw the Chris Harris video comparing the Cali T to the older Cali. In my opinion, a nice thing with the Cali is that you don't need to drive it super fast to enjoy have fun. Just listening to the engine and shifting creates a lot of excitement already. Plus the decent ground clearance and comfortable interior space adds to its usability. And then, just staring at the car in the garage, whether with roof up or down, while having my espresso, is such a treat.

My Porsche 997 Turbo S, on the other hand, needs to be driven hard to be enjoyable. It feels like a regular car before the turbo kicks in. But of course once turbo spools up, you can go so fast quickly without realizing it. But then, there's no aural sensation to be felt unlike the Ferrari.

Different personalities but I do enjoy both cars. If it's an option, I highly recommend to keep the 997 first after getting a Ferrari. Then decide how to proceed later on.

Have never driven a Cali, as not interested in convertibles, but would certainly try one of I was looking for sth with 4ish seats. Agree 911 convertibles long wrong, too rear-heavy imo. How bad can a Ferrari really be for sense of occasion/ as a weekend car ....
