Yeah thanks Jag....

Anyway, I think the main reason the 355 will be a desirable item (or more so) in 20,30,40+ years is if you look at the top 10 all time Ferraris then the 355 is usually in there and often quite close to the top. Auto express rank it in #2 behind the F40 and #1. 250TR, Enzo and what not are all further down the list.

No - It's a motoring myth that also get credited incorrectly to the Le Mans AC Cobra coupe doing 185mph on the M1.

The 70mph speed limit was brought in due to the shear number of people in ordinary, everyday family cars having severe accidents due to driving flat out on motorways (the drum brakes, loose steering, soft suspension, high centres of gravity, poor weight distribution, and general pcensoredss poor handling from everyday cars of the time, combined with high speeds were found to be a bad combination)
Interesting thanks, although i did know about the cobra tale to.
Maybe some one should inform the many motoring documentarys including jaguars own, putting it acriss that this myth as true.

That would make you very much an outlier. What went wrong with it during your ownership?

Oh, well if Auto Express said it it must be true...just kidding.

The F355 is/was sandwiched between (by Ferrari standards and contemporary reviews) two lacklustre cars - the 348 & 360 Modena. Both great in isolation, but Ferrari people are a fickle lot and they'll look at the 355 as a major improvement on the 348 as it doesn't have the garish slatted sides and rear, twitchy handling and does have performance with a 5v/cyl V8. You'll find a low miles Rosso Corsa Manual GTBs going for mega bucks in years to come. The 360, which I personally think looks great - better than the F430, but not a better car - may find a balance also, given that it can be had (easily) in the same format - a manual basically.

The F355 is a symphony of 90s Ferrari. It has the performance, the looks, the relative lack of electronic interference and pop-up headlights. It's why they sold 'so many' back then, but then they sold plenty Mercedes Pagodas and look at them now.

With even more 360s (16,300) and 430s in even higher numbers sold, than the rarer 11,000 odd 355s smile. Makes me wonder which car will be commanding higher prices in 10-20 years.

I bought a 355 GTS manual RHD. 32k Miles. Rosso with Nero interior . It too me over a year before the right car for me came along and I’m over the moon with it. If you’re looking to buy there’s very little out there. It’s a dream come true for me (even though I’ve had newer Ferraris in the past). If it doesn’t gain in value I don’t care. Even if it drops in value I’m not really that bothered. I’m guessing I’ll lose very little on it but that’s just a nice bonus.

Similar results from Evo Magazine:

I have had my F355 GTB for over 10 years now, 70,000+ miles, and it is a keeper. Relatively cheap to maintain, thanks to the knowledgeable Mick and Phi at QV Windsor.

Any 'correction' is not limited to 355s. It's obvious to anyone who keeps an eye on what's for sale, that things have at best stalled for quite some time.

The best examples of most things will sell if priced correctly, but beyond that, not much is moving. There are also big price spreads within model types, but even the cheapest ones, (tho still decent) are not selling.

Not going to get into taking down specific cars, but there are some very big hits to come on some newer stuff before the overhang gets bought up, unless something dramatically changes with economic outlook. The glee has gone!

Lots of illiquidity because sellers still want too much, and buyers don't see a bargain yet. Likely that sellers will be the ones that have to accept that.

The good thing is, that it if you have a car that you're happy with, then the market price only mayters the day you want or have to sell it

So what are thoughts on the most desirable 355 spec? I know it’s kinda subjective as far as individual preferences go but in the whole, which 355 spec will be the most saught after in 10 yrs?

The unicorn car has to be the one 355 out there that hasn’t been clocked...

Well thats an interesting question on the most desirable 355 Spec and what might be the most sought after in 10yrs...........................To be honest they are all great!! Buy one because you love it!

If you think about colours then it gets very personal. For me anyway I just couldn't bring myself to owning a red or yellow one (thats just me, I'm not knocking anyone). Silver didn't turn me on. Tour de France blue or Blue Le mans was a great colour with a beige interior...Gorgeous! The rarer or more un-usual the colour the better and more interesting I find them (but that's just my humble opinion).

Then before even thinking about this, for me it had to be a manual three pedal car as a Spider. The Spider for me just rocks my world with its sublime lines and being a mid-engined convertible, you really get the full fat experience of that engine, just as Enzo would have wanted.

The Challenge cars are pretty interesting, then I remember Ferrari did the LTD edition Asprey (one of only 2 or 3 for the UK) cars, quite rare too. The final edition cars were the "serie fiorano" which was the run out model of the 355 and came only in Spider format with carbon interior bits, fiorano suspension ECU, quicker steering rack, lowered suspension with stiffer springs, different anti roll bars etc, challenge grill and paddle shift with only a few as a stick shift.

Apologies if I've gone off piste here, you'll love them no matter what your choice. They are all great. Good luck in your quest/search.

There aren't that many specs to choose from - options were few and far between. An early M2.7 or late 99 berlinetta in rosso/crema with a gearstick and carbon seats have historically been the ones to have (/easiest to sell). There was also a limited run Serie Fiorano spider with suspension and steering tweaks that seems to command more money than the bog-standard spiders.

In any case, price doesn't seem to depend much on spec - in the UK Ferrari market, miles are everything.

Fiorano Handling Pack was an option also for UK cars later on which included the mechanical upgrades but none of the interior ones, I have one in spider trim. I seem to recall there were less than 10 RHD cars with FHP.

The "Serie Fiorano" cars almost all went to the US in LHD, 100 produced.

I agree with the miles are everything but do we think that will end being miles per annum or total miles and what would those numbers be?

I’ve had my Rosso Corsa Berlinetta since 1995 and it’s a keeper even with a 488 GTB arriving soon. With just a few hundred still on the road, my guess is that values will remain firm. I assume maybe a third have gone/been written off.

Great answers folks. I was very curious what people thought. My 355 is a manual, GTS, rosso/nero, 32k Miles. Agree with all of you there it’s a terrific set of wheels!
