Which Ferrari ?
Would expect the 488 Speciale to match up with the standard McLaren 720S but only to be blown away again by the 750LT when it comes out.At least it keeps them both honest and pushing the boundaries to out do each other but still don't think you can beat a big normally aspirated engine. Preferrably a V10 with an awesome soundtrack, mmmmmm That will be a Lambo then

Somehow I am getting less and less excited about new cars - it seems Porsche/McLaren/Ferrari/Lamborghini produce a new model or limited version every month (between them) - they are obviously always a bit lighter with a bit more power and various aero efficiency or downforce claims and will lap the manufacturer’s favorite track a little faster than the previous model - much of that I suspect probably down to increased power and tyre technology advancement and less so aero.
Not sure if I am alone on this, but if I - as a lifelong car fan and many hours a day on pisontheads type of guy who spends all his money on cars instead of a pension - am getting a little jaded and bored by all this, then it might well be a sign of enthusiasts in general becoming a little less interested in all these new cars / might lead to fewer buyers fighting over allocations going forward
I can see where you are getting at but if you look at the Ferrari line up there is a common trend 430 > 430 scu 458 > 458 Special then you have 599 gtb > 599 GTO > F12 > F12 TDF ect which come every few year where as Mclaren and Porsche seem to have a limited edition for everyone of there line up coming regularly Not sure if I am alone on this, but if I - as a lifelong car fan and many hours a day on pisontheads type of guy who spends all his money on cars instead of a pension - am getting a little jaded and bored by all this, then it might well be a sign of enthusiasts in general becoming a little less interested in all these new cars / might lead to fewer buyers fighting over allocations going forward

What are all these McLaren limited editions you talk of ?Just a thought
You have standard model, some additional option packs, and if you are lucky a LT limited edition car.
Ok there was a 650S Can Am primarily targeted at American market and more of a one off.
Can dealers actuallu do that? As didn’t a Porsche dealer get sued a while ago for something similar?
Supposing you had said to Ferrari 2 yrs ago if they make a special edition I want one here’s a 50k deposit and they overlook you that is wrong! And that’s what Porsche did and the guy sued for the profit I believe he lost out on as the dealer said even though he was the first to enquire and leave a deposit he didn’t get an allocation but someone after him did
Why has no one taken on these Ferrari dealers or is it down to the people at maranello who gets what?

Luxury cars are not some basic human right. Ferrari et al have every right to sell to whoever they want, or not at all.Supposing you had said to Ferrari 2 yrs ago if they make a special edition I want one here’s a 50k deposit and they overlook you that is wrong! In the case of that Porsche - if I recall correctly the dealer promised the guy a spot, he left a deposit and signed an order form which said that he would get one of the allocation, and they bumped him when one of their more valuable customers came along. They then lied to the original guy about how many cars they had actually been allocated.

I have been told I am on the list and I am going to a preview on the 20th Feb. However I have also been told being on the list is still not a guarantee I will actually get one until allocations are announced. It seems I managed to get on the list as I bought a Speciale from new and have kept it and did not do a quick flip on it to make money. Interestingly when I asked about the possibility of the car in the summer I was told the list was already over subscribed and even a deposit would not get me onto the list. I get the impression that Ferrari may have realigned their dealers to put long term Speciale owners on the list instead of the flippers that seems to normally happen. It does seem it is going to be more limited than the Speciale was from what I have been told so far.
