The car has been on Autotrader since 19 May, it's come down in price several times:
2018-05-19 - £87495
2018-07-24 - £85995
2018-08-22 - £84995
2018-09-10 - £79995

The advertised milage has also gone up from 19k to 21.5k, but since the owner of the dealership says it's his car that's probably just because he's continuing to use it. It could be that he's just happy to keep it as his car with it advertised in his dealership until it sells, since it costs him nothing.

It's definitely at the cheaper end of 2010 Calis at the moment, so he might be reluctant to reduce it further, but if it's still there in November it might be worth another call.
How do you see previous prices/length of listing on autotrader?

If he drops to 75k in the next few months I'll treat myself for Xmas. He offers very competitive APR at 5.3% so currently at 80k with 6k deposit and 40k balloon is £964. If we can get that closer to £850 (approx. 5k off) I'll be ready to move pending PPI.

Also, had a quote from Warranty Direct on the reg (he gave me it yesterday) and it's just shy of 2k for 3years with EVERYTHING covered, uncapped labour charge & £100 excess per claim.

Insurance is coming in at about £850 per annum.

We're getting close but I'll back off for a month or so. No rush this time of year.

They aren't generally visible, but I have ended up with a database of adverts going back a few months.

A while ago there was a discussion on supercar prices and whether they were selling quickly. I found it interesting and did some digging on the autotrader website to see what information I could get on adverts by looking at the raw data on the page. This was mostly just because I find that kind of data analysis interesting, and I wanted to try my hand at web page scraping. I wrote a quick summary on this page:

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

In the process I wrote a script in Python that scrapes the autotrader site for every Ferrari and Lamborghini advert, converts it into a data structure then exports it to a file. Since I had written the script I just set my computer to run it once each day. Again this is mostly because I find data like that interesting, but also I figured if I wanted to buy a Ferrari next year it might be nice to have some hard data on pricing trends.

Very interesting let me know when it drops to sub 75k ;-)

I've potentially lined one up, asking price is 77.5k but we've got some great APR and balloon figures coming through Santander but I'm holding out for 72.5k (he's dropped to 76k so far within a day).

Buyers remorse is kicking in. I know I can make payments easily but I assume it's fairly routine to have that mental wobble. I've done it in the past with previous cars.

So without going to indetail, my post tax disposable income after mortgage and other standard bills varies monthly between 5 and 7k (I own a gym so memberships vary). Is a car approx 850pcm a fair outgoing or would you guys be running a mile?

Just out of interest, what kind of gym do you own that can generate post vat/tax income like that?

One of the US franchises? I'm in the leisure industry and I can't think of many independents that are anywhere near those kind of numbers. That's damned impressive.

Happy to talk if you want to inbox me mate - my gym is in a relatively small town in lincolnshire. I'm never too sure who lurks these forums but if you wish to talk mate, again, feel free to inbox me.

if you have 5-7k disposable income a month then i'd have absolutely no hesitation spending 850pcm, I'd probably actually spend double and get something more exotic smile

That's a decent disposable income! £850 pcm for the car is easily doable for you, but I guess it's simply a function of how much you really want it. Personally, when I financed my 355 (before the prices went daft) I took on a deal which cost me £853 pcm over 4 years with outright HP, so no balloon payments etc. My post tax income was then and still is approx. £5K pcm, but I have to pay my mortgage (then approx. £500 pcm) and bills out of that. So yes my car payment was more than my mortgage for a while and some people I know thought I was mad (probably was) but circumstances at that time dictated that I was just something I needed to do. No regrets here :-)

Thanks for the feedback, suppose because it's the largest expense I'd have on a car (max being £575 previously on a C63) I'm a little hesitant. I don't wish to spend more than 1k a month so cars about 80k are my limit at the moment whilst dipping my toes.

I'm always cautious things could easily end tomorrow in this industry, knowing my luck I'll sign the dotted line and a £15 pcm Pure Gym will announce they are opening!

I think you should hold fire, the price of the car you are after has dropped, winter is almost upon us, I really think the values/asking prices will come down more yet and you’ll be able to drive a harder bargain, if they come down more which I’m really hoping I might just get my Cali T, btw I don’t think 458 and similar will drop , but there are an awful lot of Calis around, I wouldn’t be surprised if one day they are as cheap as Masaratis are now

My original plan was to wait until April/May for my 32nd birthday treat but you know what it's like sometimes a little scan on AT and you're emailing/calling a dealership and can get caught up in it all. The car would be a joy but think that would be limited until Spring anyway so you're probably right and can then whack a much larger deposit down to lower the monthly.

If I get an email of them dropping to 72500 I might make a move but if not I'll deffo hold out til Spring now!

Dont forget you can always sell the car should your fortunes change, i know it'll have a HPI listed, and a balloon, but worst case you'll lose all of or a % of the deposit, or worst worst case you VT it after 50% of the PCP term, and its the finance companies problem! although I'm sure you'll be fine, as it seems you have a serious amount of disposable income at hand, but only you knows what you can in reality justify, the other option is to bank some cash over the next year, then buy one one and have a bigger stake in it reducing the payments, but HP would be best as PCP has a limit to what you can % wise deposit (as i'm sure you already know)

Thanks for the reply Andy.

Many of these quoting on balloon HP only give the option of refinance/purchase at the 48 month term not a standard PCP you'd get on a new car (like my wifes 4x4 she has options to purchase/return) & I'm not sure they include VT on older cars too. I suppose that's something to discuss with the dealership when I find one.

I'll sit tight unless I get a reply from the one I enquired about earlier this week and try to avoid temptation between now and spring. Difficult when I'm constantly checking the market for prices etc.

Can anyone really see a 2013+ Cali T for under 100k anytime soon? Minimum I've found is circa 115k..can't see a 15k drop in 6-9 months.

As for white - yes seems more popular now than ever. Still out numbered by Black and Red though!

LOT of drops then and since May (all summer - popular season!)

Regular buyers of supercars (I know I'm on Ferrari forum) what would you be offering on that considering how long its been on market/price drops?

I say again yes, It’s why I’m waiting and watching, if nothings selling then yes and I do believe not much is selling, I have it on authority from a well respected dealer and friend, so yes I’m just waiting for a red cream Cali t and I’ll be in.
Everything will sell when the price is right
