I'm seriously looking to get a Ferrari to replace my GT3 as i fancy a change and i want to own a Ferrari..I love both 458 and 488 equally for the obvious reasons in speed versus noise..The attraction of the 488 is its newer with 5-6 years left of Ferrari's service plan. This is ofset to large degree as i can buy a nice 458 for about £50k less than the 488.
Over say a year or two which will lose less in depreciation bearing in mind that the service plan will have elapsed on the 458..FWIW i have never driven either and by doing so i might favour one over the other..

A surprise a visit to the dark side ? , new F cars are fun and the electronics for stability really effective so not as on edge on track as older ones . 488 on track is great and you feel the extra 200 bhp ..

I must be going through a deep midlife crisis. lol..
I'm still a Porsche man deep down however i always wanted a Ferrari at least once in my life..I'm really undecided on which model however veering towards a nice low mileage RC 458 Coupe with CF racing seats and Forged alloys at less than £150K.
It depends on whether they bring out a second batch of .3 RSs as that is what i really want,,,Time will tell..!
My dream would be a 458 Speciale but at £300K+ too rich for my blood..!!!

My feeling is that the turbo 488 is a bridge until they filter through the LaF hybrid tech onto the 458, I'd be very surprised if the next clean sheet design isn't a V8 hybrid.

I was at JCT Ferrari today having some work done on one of mine and this is the direction some of the people there think it's going. Some sort of announcement next month and I'm told the 488 replacement announced next year, probably at Geneva. They tell me that the LaF has been a testbed for the tech given it's a few cars driven by loyal owners that don't go online moaning about issues.

Whether it's true or not I don't know but I wait to see what they do with baited breath. Mind you, I've had one dealer say there's definitely a Dino coming and one say there definitely isn't within days of each other so they're either clueless themselves or there's some misdirection going on.

ive had both cars, the 458 is fantastic but the 488 is superior in every way possible bar sound and the sound of a 488 is excellent. it has DRS, more down force, 0.4 secs quicker 0-60, quicker gear changes, feels and handles better. the turbo charged engine actually feels more responsive than the normally aspirated 4.5l and delivers smooth endless power.

I'm still looking as i'm really undecided on which model to go for..I want a NASP car with the bulk of its depreciation behind it..I nearly bought a 458 last week but i'm now looking more at a nice low mileage 599 Fiorano to get the V12,,Don't know much about them TBT but really like the look of them..

That's the nicest i've yet seen with my perfect spec.It reminds me that 488 prices have dropped a few K in the last few weeks IMO..

488s are indeed dropping a lot in price - will be interesting to see what happens as the 458s are still strong - may come a time when you can choose a 458 or 488 at the same price hehe

Since i have been looking closer i now prefer the looks of the 488 and as other posters have pointed out they are now priced better as well.
