Thanks Taffy, yes the special paints are really nice IRL. Even the red ones, I was quite tempted by Swindon’s 488 in the same colour as your 812.
The car also has had 3 previous owners, again is this a Ferrari thing? It’s only 3 years old.
I would not be put off by multiple owners, for cars at this level many people get in and then get out, not unusual IMHOThe car also has had 3 previous owners, again is this a Ferrari thing? It’s only 3 years old.
It does strike me that 488s look reasonable value at 150 160k. I have been listing after a 458 having driven a couple and had a 488 on loan. I 2as pleasantly surprised by the 488 noise albeit it doesn't rev out as much as one would like. Its a bitter pill to swallow paying neigh on the same. Money for a 7 or 8 Yr old 458 which as my ferrari experience tells me will need money spending on it due to age related issues.

Quick update, I bought the Grey 488 GTB. Managed to agree a price that worked for me and the dealer. Very very very excited to buy my first Ferrari.
Thanks all for your advice.
Warm regards,
Tom
It's always good hearing a thread get updated like this. Great to hear your news. Inevitable question though, any pics yet please? Thanks all for your advice.
Warm regards,
Tom

Sorry to bump the thread, but I haven't seen this specific topic discussed before in relation to Ferrari so thought why not ask as you mentioned it- was the Ferrari main dealer who you bought the car from the one who painted the calipers? It's something I would be interested in possibly so was just wondering if most main dealers can assist with this and any idea what cost may be?
I suppose if your buying the car from them and it's done straight after the sale pre delivery it may be a smaller charge and asking them to do it on an existing car you already have and did not buy from them...
Hi all, sorry to jump in here, but i am looking at this car and wondered what are your thoughts - any obvious things missing from the spec?

Hi,
That's good money for a car that is almost baseline spec. From what I can see it has Scuderia shields (1.7k), parking camera (2.7), carbon steering wheel with LEDs (5k), mats (1.3k), coloured seatbelts (0.9k).
Missing options that many find desirable include - carbon Goldrake seats, updated HiFi, Apple Carplay, no external carbon options, no centre console carbon options, no passenger display, front lift, no engine bay carbon, diamond cut wheels and Titanium bolts, carbon centre caps?

Great spec, reflected in the price.
How do people see the exit value of a car like this in 2 years? £140k trade in optimistic?
I sold mine through a dealer and achieved £135k back in April. It was similar or less as a trade in. The market has improved since then it seems for all cars including the 488. Mine was a 2016 with 8.5k miles on it with decent spec. How do people see the exit value of a car like this in 2 years? £140k trade in optimistic?
Hi Tom, congrats on the purchase! We have very similar situations and cars. Iv'e just come from a 991.2 GT3 4.0L
to a 488, same colour as yours, same carbon and seats (mine are alcantara). I also have a Turbo S on order but I'm longer away than you are (I was given 2 years to get mine, this was ordered at the start of this year). The 488 is a massive step up in acceleration than the GT3 also a lot more refined (bumpy road mode and a quiet engine at slow to moderate speeds) It is fussier than the porsche
and you will start to notice cheap and weird things (some hilarious) about the car you would never see on the porsche.
Will you keep both cars when the Turbo comes?

I think it does have suspension lift and upgraded wheels + heated, electric seats, but yes, very limited carbon, apart from the 'driving zone' - (lack of carbon is my only slight gripe, although i do quite like the plain black look around the lights). So you think the price is too high? That's good money for a car that is almost baseline spec. Thanks Taff, fantastic.
I can't stand Jayemm. Who is this odd bloke to tell us all about how good his cars are?
I haven't seen the video but I would guess his conclusion is Ferrari special and 911 boring.... He says the same rubbish every time. Oh and probably gets a mention in there for his Lotus... To be fair, Lotus are awesome.

That odd bloke would be me. Hello, I've been on Pistonheads longer than I've been on YouTube.I can't stand Jayemm. Who is this odd bloke to tell us all about how good his cars are?

I drove a 992 Turbo, can't recall if I had by the time I drove the 488. Was a short drive around Goodwood, got a reasonable feel for the car but not much more than you would on a dealer test drive.
My time in the 488 was also too brief, and on awful roads (worst bit about Meridien, terrible roads all around them).
General thoughts would be: 488 on the firm side, 992 very comfortable. Ferrari engine LEAGUES ahead of the 992, the new Turbo was disappointingly laggy (worse than any 911 turbo in some time). Obviously 992 Turbo interior is more or less 992, 488 interior is more or less 458. Each has its advantage. 488 feels more special.
I've always been on the fence about the 488's looks (the front lip just looks like it's misaligned) however seen a few lately on the road in the right colour and they are sensational. Still sound good too, and drive very nice. I'd probably have one over a 458 at the same money.
I hope you enjoy your first Ferrari, they are a treat.
