Great job. Pics look good and interesting way to do it. I have planning permission to go up to a 4 car garage and maybe your way is a good way to go. Those aren't SIP panels are they ? What are they called in the trade ?

Good point re viewing window Andy, didn’t think of that.
Cladding is Fortex composite as it needs zero maintenance and never painting.
If you need any more photos/advice just shout.

Not so sure a viewing window a great idea. Windows in my garage are opaque so that anyone snooping around can’t see the cars (or the golf clubs, half used tins of paint etc).

Flooring was going to be Amtico but flooring guy recommended this new printed lino flooring. It looks great and you really can’t tell the difference and is completely sealed/waterproof if the car comes in wet.

Really nice spec but big miles at 42k (for a Ferrari / age)
458 spider in black has just come on autotrader.

Be interesting to see how long it hangs around for as I’d imagine could be a harder sell than some of the others that folk on here have recently purchased, lovely as it is.

Definitely couldn’t do black for myself as I don’t enjoy washing cars for a living… smile

2013 one owner car with 43k miles, says to me that owner enjoyed that car and its well driven and comes with a Ferrari warranty, I'd say its a safe buy to be honest, used cars tend to be less problematic than garage queens.

+1

I'd say it's the perfect type of car for someone who wants to actually drive it regularly without really any fear of the spectre - real and imagined - of mileage band depreciation.

I agree with what’s being said. It’s just that if spending that sort of money on a 458 spider I’d want less miles than that. Looks like a great car for someone though. Personally not against a higher mile car in principle though - everything has a price / place in the market. As you say, a well loved and looked after car is better than an unused car that may have issues from lack of use.

This is anything it shows how strong values are in 458 world, the fact you can drive the car and thoroughly enjoy it and its still got a solid 100k plus value, OK as its a one owner car this owner has taken quite a hit, but the reality is has he, 43,000 miles of pure enjoyment, some would say he has had a great deal there, 8 years and 43,000 miles.

Even more is the epic deal that the buyer gets, they can drive the wheels of the car and not have to worry about depreciation or any serious bills as its got warranty covering the big ticket items and a sensible buyer will get the costly consumables likes brakes, dampers properly checked over. smile

A great buy for someone! smile

I didn't look at the price to be honest, just assumed it would be competitive. Obviously a higher mileage one has to be priced accordingly, but it's ultimately still a Ferrari so it's not like it's going to crater in value.

Yes - I sort of view Porsche/Ferrari as the Rolex/Patek of the car world. There's always a strong residual value behind it. The 458 will be solid for years for the reasons mentioned many a time in this thread.

Meanwhile I feel like the F8/488 is a slightly different scenario. I tried a 488 spider years ago and liked it a lot - a very polished car, but as prices settle it's harder perhaps to argue not to go for an F8 over the 488? That could put pressure on the 488 longer term in my view. Yes there is a reduction in sound of course between 488 & F8, but I can't see many other disadvantages there.

458 feels safe to me because of its relative uniqueness in the history of Ferrari V8s - proven reliability to a good degree, last NA V8 / sound etc. Having had mainly Porsches I don't think I could go for another 360 or 430 now, wonderful as they are.

Re: the black 458, the market is the market (strong!) and it's a personal thing so hopefully no one shoots me down, but to me that car needs to 130s something to get someone like me to bite on a high mile car like that! I appreciate this is simply not where the current market is, and someone might be happy to pay the number asked. It's a lovely spec apart from being black as said...

I was tempted by 2 of the cars purchased (Autologix & the Supercar Sourcing car...) by members in this thread, but hadn't sold my 981 Spyder at that point!

I think the black car needs to be 130k - I paid a smidge under 145k for my fully loaded 2013 car with 24.5k ish miles and a franchise warranty, 145k feels very strong money - by example this car seems value at 149k for a 22k mile 13 car.

https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/12293398

And this was the other car I considered with circa 20k and also fully loaded with carbon.

https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/12271647

Based on that I think 145k isn’t close to sensible money for a 42k Miles car coming into winter.

The bespokes rental I drove had 43k on the clock - and felt very solid so the car can take it, but i think the main issue is you’d struggle to move it on anywhere near the asking price in a couple of years once it goes past 50k.

I’m looking for a 458 at the moment. Im looking for an Italia mainly because of my budget, but would consider a spider if at the right price. I would happily buy a black spider with tan leather. However, that price is far too close to cars with significantly lower mileage. I can buy a lower mileage red car which is far more saleable at about the same money. I would have thought £130k ish would have been much more realistic.

I just registered but it seems like a ghost town. There are a total of 9 threads on the Ferrari forum, last post two weeks ago. Am I looking in the wrong place?
You need to contact Sy(the boss!), he will add you to the Whatsapp groups which are very active and useful, lots of club meets and activities. The groups which will be useful are the Ferrari group, social lounge and your local regional group.

Yes, big thumbs up for Drivers Union really adds to the supercar ownership.

70 of us went down Frinton way weekend before last. A member owns a pub on and DU liaised with the local council so we could all park up on the common opposite. Was a great day.

Finally rid of my billboard sized temporary number plate.

This is a legally sized and spaced plate - I also have a comedy sized 9x3 inch one to go on a spare removable mount for when abroad our out of the capital which doesn't clip over the bottom of the cav as much - although it's only really noticeable at a low angle and doesn't obscure when looking down at it.

Super happy with the car now. Would love to run with no front plate but the knightsbridge bib have been handing out tickets lately so not worth the aggro
