I agree with that - so much so that I thought of getting a 488 GTB instead just to have a newer car with less fruitiness. Now thinking GT3. Again fruitiness avoidance.

I didn't say it was routine, I said it wasn't difficult to rack up big bills. A routine £20k bill, the implication being on a regular basis, is bogus unless the car is the king of all sheds.
Hence my question mark. The whole thrust of this debate was a claim that a "routine" maintenance bill of £20k was seen for a 355 - thats complete and utter ste. I'm not saying a bill for £20k can't be had, but it's certainly not routine. People should not perpetuate these myths - I know several 355 owners happily driving around with their "routine" bills averaging out in the £1000-£1500PA range and that's getting a main-dealer stamp in the book.

bks. There's nothing "routine" about a 20k bill on any ferrari.

I owned an old 12cyl 512TR and even the big "engine out" belts service cost me less than £2K at a main dealer. So tales of £20k are quite frankly bullst.
Just clocked this. Only responding as my veracity has been called into account.

My comment related to a 1997 F355. My actual friend owned it. In the time he owned it (15 months), it cost him £20k in servicing and other maintenance. The radiators went. The gearbox had a rattle. One headlight didn’t go up. You challenge this … why?

Gearbox sensor in my 11,000 mile California - 7k at Ferrari main dealer - thankfully I had a warranty - and the California is not a real performance Ferrari- I’m sure the sportier ones can throw up some big bills …
‘Software reboot’ - whatever that is . . was 900 Quid on my California T - get a warranty if you can !

Your comprehension of the discussion being around "routine" maintenance is what is being challenged. Would you say any of this was routine? Were they expecting to do it again?
